Many people are familiar with the term sciatica; however, it is often misused. Sciatica is typically characterized as lower back pain that radiates down the back of one leg and may be associated with numbness, tingling or a burning sensation. What many people may not know is that sciatica itself is not a diagnosis, it is actually a symptom. Our latest article delves into the common musculoskeletal conditions that may cause sciatic nerve irritation.
COVID-19 has changed how we live and interact with the world around us. And for many, that has created additional stress on top of what we may have already felt. This stress can manifest in a multitude of ways including physical ailments and mental fatigue. If you don’t feel well emotionally, you aren’t going to feel well physically. We have found some intriguing resources related to mental well-being that we think you might find helpful:

MOVESAFE MOMENT - HINGE AT THE HIPS
This month we are sharing the next video in our MoveSafe Moment series. This short video is addressing the concept of Hinging at the Hips which is one of the key elements of the MoveSafe ‘Big 3’ healthy postures and movements. To Hinge at the Hips means that when you bend forward you maintain neutral 3 curve alignment with your spine as you send your hips and buttocks back behind you. This prevents the discs in your spine from being compressed and reduces strain on the muscles of the lower back. Share this short video at your next tailboard meeting to remind everyone of the importance of healthy bending techniques.
