Good Morning! The October 2014 RFP for ESIP Testbed was released Friday. Find the full RFP on the Testbed site. Proposals should be submitted by 10/31.
A bit of Winter 2015 ESIP Meeting news this morning. We have confirmed Tim Stryker, US GEO, as a plenary speaker. Please submit your breakout sessions by Oct. 10 to the ESIP Commons.
Call for Testbed Projects, October 2014 Testbed RFP The ESIP Products and Services Committee with the ESIP Testbed Configuration Board are seeking proposals to carry out recently funded work to expand the ESIP Testbed. The Testbed is intended to foster innovative collaboration across all sectors of the ESIP Federation by enabling Federation committees and clusters to develop, test, and improve availability and accessibility of member products and services.
Some ideas for this October funding round could include, but are not limited to, offering solutions that do one or more of the following:
Further goals of committees, clusters and working groups by implementation of demonstration technologies using the ESIP Testbed resources and infrastructure
Build upon the initial research and work of a previous Testbed project
Organizations that sponsor a student to investigate an interesting problem

Attribute Conventions for Data Discovery v1.3 Outstanding Issues - Review & Telecon There has been significant discussion on finalizing ACDD v1.3. John Graybeal put together a spreadsheet identifying the outstanding issues. If you have an interest, please review and respond by COB this Wednesday. The group will have a final call, this Thurs to resolve these issues. Details for call are on telecon calendar.
2015 Student Opportunities There are two student opportunities - Raskin Scholarship and ESIP Student Fellows, open with applications due in early October. Please share these with early career colleagues!
2014 NOAA-David Johnson Award - Nominations are due to NOAA by October 17, 2014. NOAA is now accepting nominations for the 2014 NOAA-David Johnson Award for Outstanding Innovative Use of Earth Observation Satellite Data. The award, presented by the National Space Club, is given annually to young professionals who have developed an innovative application of Earth observation satellite data.

CUAHSI Virtual Workshop - The GCE Data Toolbox,Wade Sheldon, University of Georgia, GCE LTER Information Manager- This Wednesday, October 1
The GCE Data Toolbox is a comprehensive software framework for metadata-based processing, quality control and analysis of environmental data that is distributed as a free and open source add-on to the MATLAB technical computing environment (www.mathworks.com). This software integrates metadata capture, creation and management with data processing, quality control and analysis to support the entire data management lifecycle from acquisition through publishing. Wade will demonstrate how the toolbox can be used alone as a light-weight data management solution, or integrated with other cyberinfrastructure to provide a more comprehensive solution.
