Happy New Year, Fellow Members!
We had a very good turnout this year, the most people we’ve had at the holiday party in quite some time. Those who attended had the pleasure in helping the club bestow its first Founders Award.
In 2016 the board approved the creation of it’s highest award, given to individuals who have selflessly served the club and the local riding community in various ways over many years (see below for award criteria). At the party, the club honored Cliff Hickel as it’s first recipient. The list of ways he has served the club and community is extensive and his selection as the first honoree was unanimous and enthusiastic. Thank you, Cliff for all you’ve done for the club so far... but you’re not through yet.
The 2017 board was elected at the party and all of the same folks are returning except for our Ride Chairperson. Cindy Kuenzi is stepping down after serving 3 years on the board (2 as Ride Chair and 1 as secretary). The club thanks Cindy for her work in making sure we had rides scheduled every weekend with ride starters and many with no-drop leaders. David Levinson was elected to fill the position so please welcome him.
“Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the riding’s so delightful” Well, the weather in December was up to it typical dirty tricks, but hopefully the worst is behind us. We have a full slate of weekend rides and the month ends with another afternoon ride on Sunday the 29th. There’s no NFL playoff games that day so come on out and join us at Bullis Park at 1:00.
Here’s a few bike quotes to start your year:
"You can’t buy happiness but you can buy a bike and that’s pretty close."
"My biggest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my bicycles for what I told her they cost."
"Guys would sleep with a bicycle if it had the right color lip gloss on. They have no shame. They're like bull elks in a field."
