Video Connect 2015: Video Online - A Brand's Best Friend

The inaugural IAB Video Connect will be held on the 14th of May at March at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. The theme is Video Online - A Brand's best friend.

Digital Adspend grows by 34% - IAB Ireland/PwC Adspend Study 2014

The IAB Ireland/PwC Online Adspend Study for 2014 highlights included:

  • Digital Adspend grows by 34% in 2014
  • Total Online Advertising reaches a high of €263m
  • €1 in every €3 of digital adspend is now on mobile
  • Display advertising grew by 35% to €99m, it now represents 38% of total digital spend
  • Paid-for-Search advertising has grown by 43% yoy. It is the dominant digital format with a 52% share of total online adspend at  €137m
  • Growth in cross platform digital sponsorship (+58% in 2015). 
  • FMCG is the top spending category in cross platform display spend with a category share of 16% of display spend. Retail holds second position at 14%, followed by Finance with a 13% share

Event Round Up - IAB Connect 2015

The IAB Connect conference 2015 was held in the Guinness Storehouse on March the 26th. It was a packed event, with over 200 delegates attending and many brand representatives were in the audience. 

Event highlights included:
The keynote presentation was given by Mark Little of Storyful (pictured) who spoke on The Golden Age of Storytelling. A highlight from his session was the quote "We are in the age of the eyewitness".
A case-study was presented on the effectiveness of Native Advertising by the HSE, with Kahlil Thompson-Coyle from the National Office of Suicide Prevention (pictured) profiling the  #littlethings Native Advertising campaign.
The session was wrapped up by Rob Newlan, Director of EMEA, Facebook Creative Shop, his seesion was titled "Marketing for people not at them" and who coined the phrase "People over pixels", which definitely resonated with the audience.

The event also saw the release of the IAB Ireland/PwC Online Adspend Study for 2014. View the summary infographic.

IAB Global Certification - Stay Ahead with IAB training

IAB Ireland offers two IAB Global Certifications; the Certification in Digital Media Sales and the Certification in Digital Advertising Operations. These credentials are the only professional industry-led certification created specifically for the Digital Advertising Industry. Since these were launched in late 2014 in the Irish market,  the number of successful candidates who have achieved the award has already reached double figures.

In brief: The IAB Ireland News Round-up

IAB UK/PwC Adspend Report for 2014 was released on the 14th of April. Digital continued to show double-digit growth in the first half of 2014 with a new record high of £7.194 billion. Read more here.

IAB Europe's National Congress - Interact 2015 – 9th edition will be held in Berlin on May, from Tuesday 19th (PM) to Thursday 21st at the AXICA, next to the historic Brandenburg Gate.
