Welcome to Digital Direction – the monthly newsletter from IAB Ireland, the trade organisation for Digital Advertising in Ireland.

In this month's edition we review our Video Connect 2015 event, which was held at the Guinness Storehouse on the 14th of May. We launched our second wave of Irish VOD research with Nielsen Ireland, revealing that in the last six months:
- Two-thirds of Irish adults have viewed VOD 
- Daily VOD consumption has increased by +5%

Video Connect 2015 - VOD Almighty! What an event........

The Guinness Storehouse was packed on the 14th of May for the inaugural IAB Video Connect 2015. The conference started with the release of the latest wave of Irish VOD research - looking at reach and trends in Video on Demand viewing in the Irish market. Not surprisingly, two-thirds of of Irish adults have viewed VOD in the last six months.

After that Mark Brennan, Head of Marketing & Innovation at AIB, gave the first VOD case-study of the morning, #TheToughest GAA Campaign, pucing the ball out of the park! Other speakers on the day included:

IAB Europe Attitudes Towards Programmatic Advertising Survey

IAB Europe have launched a survey on Programmatic Advertising. We are keen to Irish market represented and ensure our market views are considered. The survey is open to all in the industry; advertisers, publishers and brands. 

The aim of the survey is to illustrate the current adoption of and attitudes towards programmatic display(online, video and mobile) advertising of both the buy and sell side of the digital advertising industry. The results will help to inform IAB Europe’s forthcoming Road to Programmatic White Paper which will provide guidance on developing a programmatic advertising strategy whether a publisher or an advertiser.

The survey will close on 31st May 2015. All respondents will be able to obtain a copy of the results.

AIB GAA campaign wins Digital Marketing Campaign awards at AIM 2015

We are delighted to congratulate AIB and their agency partners on their award for the best Digital Marketing Campaign at the All Ireland Marketing awards (AIM) 2015, on the 14th of May in Dublin. Earlier on the day of the awards Mark Brennan had presented the IAB Video Connect event on the importance of VOD in the #TheToughest campaign. 

During the campaign, each piece of content was designed to make heroes out of ordinary GAA club players and be shared throughout club communities. This campaign punched way above its weight, generating 1.5m video views, tons of social engagement and over €10m in PR media value. The #TheToughest is an identity and a hashtag that now belongs to the players and supporters of the AIB GAA Club Championship.

Programmatic Workshop for Publishers

By popular demand, IAB Ireland is running the very successful Programmatic Advertising morning workshop for Publishers on the 9th of June at the Clyde Court Hotel in Dublin. 
 
Attendees will learn about:
-The display trading ecosystem and how it's evolving
-Traditional buying v real time buying – what to consider when selling display media
-Understanding the stats – leveraging data to increase ROI
-Creating a strategy that works for your brand – the right questions to ask
