Welcome to the June 2016 edition of Digital Direction, the IAB Ireland newsletter. There is a big buzz around IAB Ireland HQ, as we prepare to launch our inaugural Digital Upfronts in Ireland on October 4th, 2016. The event will be one day only, with presentations throughout that day from some of Ireland’s leading content creators, media owners and tech companies. Digital Upfronts is a showcase event where agencies and advertisers can hear first about the forthcoming innovations and premium digital offerings for the year ahead from Online Publishers and Tech suppliers. Keep tuned for more updates over the coming weeks.

Video Nation: IAB Video Connect 2016, tickets still available 

Video Nation is the theme for the this year's IAB Video Connect event, which will be held next week on Tuesday the 28th of June .

Online Video is firmly established within marketers communications strategies.Video Adspend in Ireland for 2015 was €24.5m - an increase of 71% over the previous year.  It’s a proven medium for brand campaign

We are delighted to welcome David Rožac from Celtra (pictured right) back to Dublin, who will present on Video Advertising on Mobile. He will join an expert packed line-up of speakers, including Sylvain Corre from IPG Mediabrands, Brian Larkin from Get Broadcasting and Cian Corbett from Radical.  

We will also be launching the latest wave of our Video On Demand Research, conducted by Nielsen Ireland looking at the Reach of VOD, the trends in viewing in the past year and the acceptance of Video Advertising.

Blog: New qualitative research on Brand's going online, by RED C Research

Our guest blogger this month is Aoife Marron, Associate Director, RED C an IAB Ireland member company who recently published Qualitative Research on whether "Online is the way to go?" for Brands. 

Online is the way to go. Or is it? When it comes to brands do we encourage occupation of this all pervasive space because we can or because it’s the right thing to do?

One fascinating finding was the distinction in priorities and interests highlighted by men and women. The men tend to display a lofty appetite for data, detailed information, functionality and material relating to sport and hobby obsessions. Women on the other hand are more concerned with connections and social information, forms of entertainment and advice from peers. The old saying stands even in an online environment: men are from Mars and women are from Venus!

IAB Global Digital Sales Certification Training in August 2016

IAB Ireland offers two IAB Global Certifications; the Certification in Digital Media Sales and the Certification in Digital Advertising Operations. These credentials are the only professional industry-led certification created specifically for the Digital Advertising Industry. Since these were launched in late 2014 in the Irish market,  their has been a strong uptake in the Irish market. Find out more about the IAB Ireland Global Certifications,

We are hosting a dedicated IAB Ad Sales Certification training session on August 9th, hosted by IAB trainer Steve Thompson, for those wishing to certify that month. To find out more, email maeve@iabireland.ie
