What: Reinventing Power Documentary Screening + Discussion

More Info: The film Reinventing Power: America’s Renewable Energy Boom takes us across the country to hear from ordinary people in eight states who are helping transition to a clean energy future by building what is broken, rethinking what is possible, driving innovation and fighting for community access. The film underscores the idea that supporting a clean energy future means a better, more prosperous future for everyone.

A discussion will follow, facilitated by Professor Amy McEuen, Associate Professor of Biology at UIS.

What: Old Growth Forest in Allerton Park Hike
When: Saturday, September 8th @ 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

More Info: Participants on this easy/moderate difficulty hike should be capable of walking 2.5 miles on uneven carriage trails and should wear good hiking shoes or boots and bring water. Consider insect repellent. All attendees must sign a Sierra Club waiver of liability. Limited to 20 participants.

What: Sangamon County Board Meeting - vote on solar ordinance 
When: September 11th @ 7 PM (rally outside at 6:15 PM) 
Where: Sangamon County Complex 
200 S 9th St, 2nd floor 
More Info: The Sangamon County Board is expected to vote on a solar ordinance at the September 11th meeting. We'll be rallying outside to show support for solar at 6:15 PM and then heading into the meeting that starts at 7 PM. 
 

What: Listen, Lead, Share Community Dialogue in Springfield
When: Wednesday, September 12th @ 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

More Info: The Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition has launched Listen, Lead, Share to listen to people in every part of Illinois—-to determine how Illinois can lead in the race to build a clean energy economy (to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2050) and how people across the state can share in the benefits.

More Info:  The meeting  will include an overview of public comments received for City Water, Light and Power’s long range plan (aka Integrated Resource Plan or IRP), the utility’s quarterly financial report, and a presentation on electric line clearance and underground rebuild work for system reliability.
