Stop Trump's Dirty Power Plan + Help Us Elect Environmental Champs!

STOP President Trump's #DirtyPowerScam.
You can send a comment to the EPA through this link.  On Monday, October 1st, environmental organizations, community groups, and concerned community members will join together at an EPA hearing in Chicago. This is the only public hearing happening in the country, worse yet the Trump Administration gave less than 30 days notice. We've been hustling to get the word out and will be sending a bus to Chicago for the hearing. There's still a few spots left on the bus email elizabeth.scrafford@sierraclub.org if you'd like to come. (The free bus will leave Springfield at 7:45 AM and return that evening - meals provided)

What: Spitler Woods Fall Hike
When:
Sat, October 27th, 10 AM-noon
More Info: We will go to Spitler Woods State Natural Area by Mt. Zion for a 2.6 mile hike on the Squirrel Creek Trail to see the fall colors in a lovely grove of old growth upland forest. While Squirrel Creek Trail is supposed to be a loop, one of the bridges over a steep ravine is closed for repair so we will hike in and then retrace our steps. (Unless the bridge is repaired.) It is quite interesting to walk through a mature upland forest with a dense canopy as opposed to one that is secondary growth. There are places where some small drainages run over the trail with no bridge so if it has been wet recently bring foot gear that will keep you feet dry. Long pants to protect from occasional poison ivy recommended as well.

Would like to limit the group to 20. Contact Steve Soltys 217-899-9996 or stephen.soltys@gmail.com for questions or to RSVP. Participants must be willing to sign Sierra Club waiver. Minor must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

Directions: From Springfield- 1 hour drive - Taken I-72 East to Decatur and take the exit for US 51 South, Take US 51 South about 5 miles and take the exit that is mark Decatur/ Mt. Zion/Elwin. At the exit stop sign take a left and go 1/4 mile and turn left on Elwin Road. Take Elwin road through Mt Zion until you come to Illinois 121. (It is a stop sign at the curve in 121). Turn left on IL 121 (North) until you get to Spitler Park Drive (Second Light). Take a right and Spitler park will be 1/2 mile down the road on your right.
