June is National Public Safety Month, and DLBA’s Public Safety team is joining thousands of other organizations observing June as National Safety Month by continuing to ensure a clean and safe environment for our Downtown stakeholders. You can spot our Safety Team interacting with the Downtown community while on their bikes, on foot and with the traveling Info Kiosk.
This month Taste of Downtown heads over to Pine Avenue and The Promenade. Be sure to save the dates and get your early bird tickets online. Last, we are excited to announce our partnership with KCRW, POW WOW, and SAM to bring KCRW Summer Night to Downtown Long Beach!

DLBA and Partners Welcome KCRWs Summer Nights to Downtown Long Beach

The Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DLBA) and KCRW (89.9 FM), Southern California’s premiere national public radio station, are excited to announce today its partnership to bring KCRW’s highly popular community and music event, Summer Nights, to Downtown Long Beach on July 27 to celebrate POW!WOW! The Vault 350 has Been Reborn!

What was once considered Long Beach’s premier music venue, showcasing performances by some of the biggest names in music, like BB King, Kanye West, Joe Walsh, the Killers, and Ghostface Killah, The Vault 350, located on the corner of Pine Avenue and Fourth Street, eventually hit hard times and morphed into another empty building.
Vacant for the better part of the last decade, Long Beach residents and Downtown businesses longed for the day when it would reopen its doors and headline the city’s music scene again. Despite its many attempts, and for a variety of reasons, no major movement occurred to recapture the vision, until now. Read More

Taste of Downtown: East Village 2019
|

The much anticipated Taste of Downtown returned for its 12th year offering a fun and affordable way to enjoy dozens of Downtown Long Beach eateries one taste at a time. This two-day tasting event is part of a series held throughout the summer providing the perfect outdoor setting to enjoy food, drink, and entertainment with family, friends, and work colleagues. The first event kicked off in the East Village (May 29-30) at 1st and Linden Ave. The next Taste of Downtown will take place on Pine Avenue and the Promenade (June 26-27) followed by the Waterfront (August 28-29).

Live After 5ive May 2019

Head to Downtown Long Beach on the third Thursday of every month for Live After 5ive. The monthly event is a free, family, and pet-friendly event that highlights downtown neighborhoods, bringing live music, art activations, entertainment and opportunities for community engagement throughout.

DTLB Business Spotlight: Fitness Nutrition Shop Owner Hasuni Kahwaji Brings The Muscle to Pine Avenue

The Pine Avenue Corridor is, among many other things, the epicenter of Downtown Long Beach fitness. Gyms and fitness centers abound; Polarity Fitness, KP Pilates Plus, Anytime Fitness, Groundworks, 10th Planet Long Beach, Gold’s Gym, DG Boxing #2 and DTLB Cross-Fit are all on Pine Avenue, or very close by. Go Long Beach App is a Powerful Tool For Improving City Cleanliness And Safety

The GO Long Beach app is designed to provide Long Beach, CA residents, businesses, and visitors the opportunity to access City Hall, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere, online or mobile.
|
|
The expression “Tell it to City Hall!” used to indicate futility and frustration. Nowadays, thanks to the easy-to-use Go Long Beach smartphone app, folks can instantly and directly tell city departments about community safety and cleanliness issues 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Since its launch in 2010, the Go Long Beach app has been a tremendously effective tool for quickly dealing with such safety problems as potholes, damaged traffic signs and broken newspaper racks, as well as cleanliness issues like graffiti, overgrown weeds and illegally dumped items. Read More
