French Tasting Highlights!

Our French wine tasting last Saturday was a huge hit, thanks to all that participated. It was good seeing some old faces and meeting some new people as well. Below we have a few of the highlights that seemed to garner the most buzz. There were a bunch more wines but who wants to be inundated with a long list of wines no matter how good they are?

We have a few crisp white wines, medium-bodied reds, and of course a few meaty/savory big wines as well. All are great, but have their own individual style. Enjoy and hope to see you at our next tasting!

Domaine Verdier Sur Lie Sevre et Maine Muscadet 2018
Shelf Price $14.99
Sale Price $11.97

This is a terrific buy in Loire Valley white wine. Lean and crisp with superb acidity but it is the Sur Lie that makes this Muscadet shine. The lees contact adds so much texture and character mid-palate, you would swear you were drinking something much more expensive.

Domaine Joseph Cattin Cremant d'Alsace Brut NV
Shelf Price $14.99
Sale Price $12.97

A crowd favorite once again. Simple, fresh and gulpable. The perfect get together bubbly or the sit on your couch wine while watching your new obsession on Netflix.

Chateau de la Chaize Brouilly 2019
Shelf Price $19.99
Sale Price $16.97

This classic Beaujolais house really brought it’s A game in 2019. This is delicious Gamay, displaying beautiful blue and plum fruit and an ever so subtle garrigue component.Yum!

Mas Theo P'tit Gaby Rouge 2019
Shelf Price $16.99
Sale Price $12.97

This was the wild one of the bunch that kept changing in the glass. This is a biodynamically farmed blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan from the southern Rhone that is vinified with a hands off approach. Picture Bastide Miraflors with less extraction but more garrigue.

Mayard Clos du Calvaire Châteauneuf du Pape Rouge 2019
Shelf Price $37.99
Sale Price $33.97

The young vine release from this great estate, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Clos Du Calvaire has a beautiful Grenache nose of ripe strawberries and raspberries as well as notes of spice-box, garrigue, and flowers. This feminine, medium-bodied, seamless 2019 is balanced, lengthy, and already impossible to resist
