Anthropologist Predicts Major Threat to Species within 40 Years  

Jeffrey McKeeJeffrey McKee, professor, anthropology, is lead author of a new study finding that ongoing global growth in the human population will inevitably crowd out mammals and birds and has the potential to threaten hundreds of species with extinction within 40 years. The study, Human Population Density and Growth Validated as Extinction Threats to Mammal and Bird Species, is published in the journal, Human Ecology.
 


Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise Announces Director

Sullivant HallSonia BasSheva Mañjon, has been appointed director of the new Lawrence and Isabel Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise. Mañjon was vice president for Institutional Partnerships/Chief Diversity Officer at Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut. She earned her MA in cultural anthropology and social transformation and PhD in humanities, focused on transformative learning and change in human systems, California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco. A new initiative for the arts and sciences, the Barnett Center will be located in the renovated Sullivant Hall upon its re-opening in 2014.

History Undergraduate featured in Nat Geo premiere of series "Eyewitness War" July 1, 10pm

Brandon LewisThe story of undergraduate history major Brandon Lewis, Newark Campus, who served in Afghanistan, is featured in the first episode of this new series, scheduled to air Monday, July 1, 10pm. Lewis and a friend he served with were flown to Los Angeles last April to be interviewed for combat footage they shot in in Afghanistan.
