Claudia Buchmann

Sociology Chair and Professor Wins Award for Outstanding Scholarship

Claudia Buchmann, professor and chair, sociology, and coauthor Thomas DiPrete, won the American Sociology Association 2015 Otis Dudley Duncan Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Social Demography, for their 2013 book The Rise of Women: The Growing Gender Gap in Education and What it Means for American Schools. They will be honored at a reception on Aug. 22, in Chicago.


Accelerator Award Submissions Due July 20

Ohio State Accelerator Awards of up to $50,000, providing funding to researchers to develop and validate their inventions over a three to six month period, make early inventions more marketable to potential licensing and/or business partners. Available to all Ohio State researchers who have disclosed their inventions to the Technology Commercialization Office. Applications due July 20.

ASC Undergraduate Newsletter Content Submissions

The Arts and Sciences undergraduate newsletter is emailed monthly to all ASC undergraduate majors and ASC staff who work directly with students. If your unit is planning an event to highlight majors, minors, study abroad opportunities or other issues of interest to ASC majors, or if anyone in your unit would like to be added to the distribution list, please submit information to Ann Rottersman, publication dates and content deadlines.
