Sociologist: Some Student Debt Drives Graduation Rates
Rachel Dwyer, associate professor, sociology, is the author of a new study finding that college students with some amount of education debt are more likely to graduate than those with less or no debt — up to a point. Dwyer’s paper, “Student Loans and Graduation from American Universities,” was released June 18 by Third Way as part of its Next Initiative. |

National Longitudinal Surveys 50th Anniversary
The National Longitudinal Surveys (NLS) 50th anniversary will be celebrated 2015-16. Since the 1960s, the NLS have gathered information at multiple points in time on labor market experiences and significant life events of seven cohorts of men, women and children. The original NLS cohorts were conducted by the Center for Human Resource Research (CHRR) and the U.S. Census Bureau. |

Call for Nominations: The K. Patricia Cross Future Leaders Award
The Association of American Colleges and Universities is accepting nominations for The K. Patricia Cross Future Leaders Award, recognizing graduate students with exemplary promise as future leaders of higher education. All doctoral-level graduate students and graduate students in fields where the masters is the terminal degree planning careers in higher education are eligible. Students must be nominated by a faculty member or administrator, with a supporting letter from a second faculty member or administrator. Nominations due Oct. 1. Questions, contact Suzanne Hyers. |
