Ohio Eminent Scholar Receives Distinguished Scientist Award

Julian ThayerJulian Thayer, Ohio Eminent Scholar in Health Psychology, received the 2012 Distinguished Scientist Award from the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, an international society for mind-body research, health care, and education.

Physicist Receives Simons Fellowship

Jason HoTin-Lun (Jason) Ho, professor of physics, received a 2012 Simons Fellowship in Theoretical Physics for Fundamental Issues in Degenerate Quantum Gases.


Mark Your Calendars for ASC Staff Advisory Pancake Breakfasts

In recognition of the hard work and dedication of the staff of the College of Arts and Sciences, the ASC Staff Advisory Council invites all staff to attend a recognition breakfast. Chris Cakes will be providing "Perfectly Praiseful Pancakes," along with sausage and drinks. Special dietary needs cannot be accommodated. The breakfast schedule is:
  • April 3, Mershon Auditorium, 8:30-10 am, arts and humanities staff
  • April 4, Mershon Auditorium, 9-10:30 am, office of the executive dean staff
  • April 10, Physics Research Building Atrium, 9-10:30 am, social and behavioral sciences staff

Graduate/Professional Students (GPS) Recruitment Initiative

Plans are underway for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s 42nd Annual Graduate/Professional Students (GPS) Recruitment Initiative, October 14-16. The annual recruitment event targets prospective students by asking graduate and professional programs to nominate candidates. Graduate and professional programs are encouraged to identify promising students and to forward information to Jackie Lipscomb.

Physicist Captures First-Ever Images of Atoms Moving in a Molecule

Louis DiMauro, professor of physics, and his colleagues have recorded the first real-time image of two atoms vibrating in a molecule, using a new ultrafast camera. DiMauro’s Atomic Physics Research Group does leading-edge theoretical and experimental work in ultra-fast atomic physics.
