The title of Distinguished University Professor, the highest honor Ohio State bestows on a faculty member, is a permanent designation given to-date to only 53 faculty members. ASC is proud to be home to 34 of them, including all three selected this year: Julia F. Andrews, history of art; James A. Cowan, chemistry and biochemistry; and Ulrich W. Heinz, physics. The designation is effective July 1 and includes automatic membership on the President’s and Provost’s Advisory Committee. In addition, the Office of Academic Affairs designates a one-time cash award of $30,000 to be used for scholarly work. |
