Currently Showing in the Visual Arts Alberta Gallery...
Ricardo Copado's "Travelling Within Dreams" and Daniel Evans' "Body/Language" until Feb. 25.
Copado creates paintings of surreal scenes inspired by both nature and other realistic elements, taken to the limits of fantasy. Evans' large scale figurative drawings explore the archetypal story of the Star-Crossed Lovers, by using the sensuality of figure drawing to investigate the narrative's themes of passion, loss, transgression, and dependence. The gallery is open in Edmonton from Wed.-Fri.: 10-4 pm and Sat.: 12-4 pm. The gallery will be closed on Feb. 18 for Family Day.

Keith Turnbull
“In our western society, we are bombarded with very specific ideals of beauty, based on youth, slender bodies and regular features. But of course these so-called ideals have nothing to do with who women really are and how they really look. Their real beauty has little if anything to do with media images. My show tries to deal with the disconnect between popular image and reality.” – Keith Turnbull.
"Women", an exhibition of clay sculptures by Keith Turnbull runs from Feb. 18 to March 24 at the Discovery Gallery in the Alberta Craft Council in Edmonton. The opening reception is Saturday, February 18 from 2 - 4 pm. Visit the Council's website here for more information.
