What's happening at Visual Arts Alberta...

Got tax questions? Join us in Calgary with accountant Bonnie Pratt for a Taxation for Artists seminar. Pratt will present information to visual artists designed to increase awareness of themselves as a small business. From developing sound business practices - record keeping, inventory, income, expenses – to understanding their tax responsibilities, this seminar will educate, inform, answer questions and discuss tax-related issues and concerns. This workshop is free so join us from 2-4 pm on Saturday, February 9, 2013 in Annex C of the Alberta College of Art & Design (1407-14 Ave NW in Calgary).

Need an artist statement? Professional artist and educator Sharon Moore-Foster assists in the development and improvement of artist statements, from the general to the specific. Bring work samples, a brief bio or a statement in need of improvement to this hands-on workshop. Support staff will be on hand to help you develop and finesse your statement. Both emerging and professional artists will benefit from this session. Join us at the Strathcona County Art Gallery @501 (501 Festival Avenue in Sherwood Park) on Thursday, February 21 from 7-8:30 pm. This is a free event, but please RSVP to 780.410.8585 by Thurs., Feb. 14.
