Something to Chew On...

Our Advocacy Director, Sydney Lancaster came across a compelling article on the state of fine art auctions. Penned by Howard Rehs, you can read the full article here. In response to the article, Lancaster says: "... An interesting analysis of the many factors at play in the current high values the auction houses have been seeing. It's an intricate mess really; no less emotional that the stock market from Rehs' view I'd say, but he does make a crucial point: while art is a solid investment in financial terms, the ultimate reason to purchase still needs to be that the buyer really loves the work.  While the market may swing, having work that you love and love living with takes the whole transaction to a different place."
