Alumni Events

This September alone we have welcomed back around 300 alumni to a range of different events in College. These included the first ever ten year anniversary reunion dinner, a medical alumni association meeting and dinner, two September Reunions, a Friends of the Old Library event and an alumni buffet lunch to tie in with the alumni weekend. Phew! It’s been wonderful meeting so many of you this month and we are really delighted that so many of you enjoy coming back to College. New Staff

We would like to welcome Miss Amelie Roper  as the new College Librarian and Mr Thomas Guest as new Graduate Trainee Librarian.Charlotte Byrne our former Graduate Trainee Librarian will become the Library Assistant.

Forthcoming Events

Christ’s College Young Alumni Event at Vinopolis - London 14 October  (Pictured above)

This event is designed for alumni who matriculated from Christ’s in the last ten years. As the first alumni event aimed at our younger alumni, we’ve organised a very special wine tasting evening at Vinopolis, a stunning ‘city of wine’ in the Victorian vaults under the railway lines by Southwark Cathedral, central London. This event has been extremely popular but we have a few places remaining. Winter Drinks Reception at the Oxford and Cambridge Club – 14 December

Following the success of last year’s London Winter Drinks Reception, we are delighted to announce that we will be holding another event this year, so hold Wednesday 14 December in your diaries for a festive drink with College friends!
The venue will be the Smoking Room of the prestigious Oxford and Cambridge Club, ideally located in Pall Mall, central London. We will shortly be sending out invitations to all alumni living in and around London and Cambridge although the event is open to any member of Christ’s who wishes to attend. Chapel News

Welcoming the new Chaplain Bernard Randall

Bernard is delighted to have been appointed as the next Chaplain at Christ’s. Since ordination he has served in three parishes in Greater Manchester. For more information on the Chapel and serices follow this link. Look out for an introduction to the Chaplain and other new Senior Members in the forthcoming College Magazine, shortly to arrive on your doorsteps.
Election of the Chancellor 

The University has announced to members of the University Senate that an election will take place to elect a Chancellor of the University of Cambridge.

The election will take place in the Senate-House in Cambridge on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 October 2011 from 10am to 8pm on each day. 

In accordance with the Statutes of the University, votes must be cast in person, and votes will be counted under the University’s regulations for the Single Transferable Vote.  

The Master plans to hold a drinks reception in the Master's Lodge between 6:15pm and 7:15pm on Saturday 15 October for any member of Christ's who comes to vote, and who books by Wednesday 12 October with the Development Office ( The Master intends to dine on High Table in College on the evening of Saturday 15 October after the drinks reception, and would be delighted to see any alumni able to stay for dinner. In addition, Professor Nick Gay (Fellow) will be dining on Friday 14 October and would likewise be delighted to see any alumni able to stay for dinner after voting. If you wish to exercise your dining privileges, please contact the Steward’s Office at Stewardsoffice@christs.
 by 12 October, stating your name, date of matriculation, eligibility to dine on High Table, the date you wish to dine and any special dietary requirements. Please see
 for more details on exercising your dining privileges. 

The current Chancellor, HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, stood down from the role on 30 June after 34 years in the post. The Chancellor is also the Visitor to Christ's College.
