A Word From the Master

"Welcome to the latest edition of the Christ's College e-newsletter. As the students prepare for exams our Development Office has been busily organising events for the summer months. Find out how you can book for events like the Family Day and Association Dinner below. We also offer our thanks for those involved in this year’s successful telephone campaign. Visit From the Chancellor

On 31 May the College was delighted to welcome the Visitor (Lord Sainsbury, Chancellor of the University) for his first official visit to Christ’s. He presented the Chancellor’s 800th Anniversary Medal for Outstanding Philanthropy to Dr Yusuf Hamied (Honorary Fellow) and Mrs Farida Hamied in recognition of their generous support of the College and the University. He then met a number of Fellows, students and staff, before unveiling a new Phillip King (Honorary Fellow) sculpture outside the Yusuf Hamied Centre.

'Todd of Trumpington'

On 31 May Dr Yusuf Hamied and Dr Sandy Todd (son of former Master Lord Todd) named the new men’s 1st VIII ‘Todd of Trumpington’ in a ceremony  at the Boathouse in front of past and current members of the Club.

Caro at Chatsworth

An exhibition of Sir Anthony Caro's (Honorary Fellow) work will run at Chatsworth House until 1 July. The Chatsworth House Trust and the New Art Centre, Roche Court Sculpture Park, present the first exhibition dedicated to the work of a single artist to be held in the garden at Chatsworth.

The exhibition will comprise 15 sculptures by Sir Anthony Caro sited around the Emperor Fountain, in front of the south façade at Chatsworth

College Choir On Tour

The choir will be visiting the West Coast of Canada and Northern USA between 3 and 21 July. The choir will spend the first few days on Vancouver Island and mainland Vancouver, before heading to Washington State to the towns of Bellingham, Anacortes, Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia and finally south to Portland.

Cirque Du Soleil May Ball
 
The Cambridge University Graduate Union is inviting alumni to join graduate attendees at the GU Summer Ball. The 'Cirque du Soleil' themed Ball will take place on the 23 June at the Cambridge Union on Bridge Street, Cambridge. Early bird tickets are priced at £60 per person.

Family Day and Summer Garden Party 2012

The annual Family Day and Summer Garden Party is taking place on Saturday 14 July 2012. The event in the Fellows’ Garden will feature two bouncy castles, face painting, garden games, children’s entertainment and afternoon tea. This is a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and enjoy a family friendly occasion in College. For more information and to book a place please follow this link.
Association Dinner

The Association holds an annual dinner in College each summer, to which all members are invited. This year the Dinner is taking place on 30 June.
