A Word From the Master

"Welcome to the latest Christ's College e-newsletter. In spite of the  weather, we've had an enjoyable summer at Christ's with a variety of alumni functions. Jezo, the children's entertainer, brought his own brand of magic to Family Day and delighted many of the adults as well as the children. At the recent reunion on 8 September I enjoyed the opportunity to meet alumni who matriculated up to and including 1952 and those from 1985 - 1986. We would like to invite you to our forthcoming events, and include more information below. We would also like to congratulate alumni named in the Queen's Birthday Honours, and the College Catering Department on a recent award. If you have any queries about the e-newsletter or suggestions for its content please contact our Publications Officer at publications@christs.cam.ac.uk ".

Reunions and Garden Parties

It was lovely to welcome back so many faces to College for the Family Day and Summer Garden Party on 14 July,  and the reunions on 8 and 22 SeptemberAlthough we didn't have much sunshine at the Family Day, there was still fun and frolics with some late rays breaking through allowing some last-minute bouncy castle action!

Sculling For Success!

Five Christ’s College Blades, with an average age of 67, have sculled 58 miles of the River Trent, in torrential rain and near flood conditions, from Nottingham to Lincoln over two days in July 2012.
Only an hour after finishing the River was closed by an official Flood Alert . The crew were rowing for the Christ's College Boathouse Redevelopment Fund, which is raising money for the planned boathouse upgrade. If you would like to make a contribution towards the fund please click here for the full details of the redevelopment fundraising and information on making a donation.

Come one, come all to Edinburgh! Open to all alumni the event takes place at the  Scotch Whisky Experience in Edinburgh on Wednesday 17 October. The venue is situated on the Royal Mile adjacent to Edinburgh Castle. The evening kicks off at 7.00pm with a barrel ride through a replica distillery guided by the Whisky Blender's Ghost (pictured). You will also visit the Diageo Claive Vidiz Collection - the world's largest collection of Scotch whisky . As a grand finale attendees will get a dram of whisky before moving on to the McIntyre Whisky Gallery for drinks and canapes, hired privately for the occasion. The Master, Professor Frank Kelly will be hosting the occassion.
