Welcome to LJAG's newsletter - November 2012

It's party time!
You are invited to The LJAG Christmas Party at the Cambria pub, on Kemerton Road, on the evening of Tuesday 4 December from 7.30pm onwards. It's been a fantastically busy year for LJAG and it looks as if 2013 will be even busier. There will be mulled wine on offer so come and help us celebrate another year and let us know what we should be doing next year. We need your ideas and your enthusiasm.
Cambria Bridge consultation

Cambria Bridge Consultation

Two events were held earlier this month under the Cambria Bridge to find out what people think of plans to improve Cambria Road. Nearly 400 people  turned up to talk through the plans, share their ideas and tuck into delicious mince pies and mulled apple juice supplied by The Cambria pub.

People told us of areas where they feel unsafe, the worries they have about the heavy goods vehicles on Cambria Road and how to bring together the people who live on either side of Coldharbour Lane. If you’d didn’t get a chance to talk to us then come along to the events on Saturday 8 December (see right hand column).
LJAG cycle project

Our cycle project

LJAG in conjunction with Cycooldelic who run the Cycle Hub on Brixton Road are running a cycle project at Lambeth Accord from the beginning of January training nine young people ages 13 to 18 as cycle repair mechanics.

We want to run another course for young women early next year, so if you know anyone who would like to sign up please drop in to the Cycle Hub and have a chat with Leo Paesano or give him a ring on 07944 690 907.

Masterplan and Big Local consultation events

Come and have your say about the future of Loughborough Junction on Saturday 8 December from 12 noon to 5pm at the Loughborough Centre (corner of Barrington Road and Angell Road) and on the open space in front of the Loughborough Road shops and the Hero of Switzerland pub.

Inside the Centre is your chance to say how you would spend the £1million of Big Local lottery money that is coming to North Brixton over the next ten years, and outside you can share your ideas for the Masterplan.

LJAG is working with Lambeth Council and architectural practice DSDHA to develop the masterplan – an improvement plan for the area - and it’s important that the local community has an input. So come along and help influence and shape the future of Loughborough Junction. Hot food and entertainment will be provided.

We look forward to seeing you there!

We do hope that you enjoy reading this newsletter. Any feedback is of course welcome. And if you'd like to include something in our newsletter please email and we'll see what we can do.

Greening the Junction

Lambeth's Freshview team will be out helping LJAG's gardening and greening group on Saturday 26 January. We are hoping to build raised beds around the lovely silver birch trees in Station Avenue (the pedestrian street which runs between Coldharbour Lane and Rathgar Road) and plant them out with sturdy evergreens which will look good the whole  year round.

Please get in touch with Anthea Masey on 07799 621 582 or by emailing antheamasey if you want to get involved.

Lambeth Town Hall

Lambeth "Town Hall for All" Ideas Exploration

Lambeth Council would like to invite everyone to this event on Friday 7 December from 5-7.30pm, which will explore ideas and opportunities for how the Town Hall can be opened up for use by local people and organisations.

This is the first chance to speak with the Council about your ideas on the future use of the Town Hall. If you are unable to attend, the results will be shared and there will be more opportunities for you to contribute your ideas and suggestions from the New Year onwards.
