What a great year!
Let’s raise a glass!

When we started this Frisson adventure seven years ago, our goal was to make wine that we enjoyed drinking, and believed that others would share our vision.  Like many passions, this one has only grown stronger.  From our beginning with one vintage of Diamond Mountain Cabernet, we are now making wines from several of the most exciting appellations in Napa Valley.
This year, in particular, has been a blast.  Our 2012’s won some prestigious recognition (more about that later), we opened in a tasting room, we traveled around Texas for Frisson wine dinners, our 2013’s were successfully bottled, and the growing season and harvest was one for the books. Frisson kept us very busy, but we still had lots of time with grandbabies and puppies, many fun visitors, lots of new friends, and no earthquake!  We have been very, very fulfilled with life and Frisson, and have much to be grateful for.

More Ratings and Medals

Earlier this year, our 2012 Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon received Gold from the San Francisco Chronicle and Double Gold from the Houston Rodeo international wine competitions.  Not to be ignored, this summer we were proud to receive a 90 from The Wine Enthusiast for our 2012 Rutherford Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon.  Recently we were thrilled to learn that both these wines have been recognized by internationally respected wine critic James Suckling (formerly of Wine Spectator), with a 92 for the Rutherford and a 90 for the Diamond Mountain.
The Fermented Fruit wine blog also gave our 2012 Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon a 91 and our 2014 Dutton Ranch Russian River Chardonnay a 90.  This same Chardonnay also received a Gold medal from the San Francisco Chronicle earlier this year.

All roads lead to 1234 Main

The next time you are in Napa Valley, be sure and stop by 1234 Main in the heart of downtown St. Helena, a tasting room featuring Frisson Wines and Thorn Hill Wines. There we proudly offer our current releases of wines in a relaxed and comfortable setting.  You can also kick back and have our wines by the glass and a cheese plate and hang out and chat up our knowledgeable hosts, Scott and Gerlinde.  While you are there, you also need to experience the wonderful award winning wines of Thorn Hill from winemaker Amy Thorn.  Amy has made some delightful wines, including a sparkling you don’t want to miss.

We will have our official kickoff party on February 3rd, so come be our guests.

Family Wine Makers and Napa Valley Vintners Count Us In
Now that it seems that we are extremely serious about this winemaking thing, we have been joining some industry organizations.  We wish we had done it sooner!  The Napa Valley Vintners Association has so much to offer, and we are excited to be putting our wine in some of their events this year. This past summer we attended our very first Family Winemakers of California event on Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco and had a fabulous time.  We had so much fun meeting so many other small vintners, media types and wine lovers and absolutely relished pouring our wines for such an appreciative audience.  So much so, that we will be showing our wines at the 2017 Del Mar tasting on the fairgrounds on March 5th.  We have some crazy friends lined up to help us out (L.L., we mean you!).  If you can force yourself to visit the San Diego area around then, you should come on out.

Not done with the old, but in with some new
The more we do this wine thing, the more we learn.  And one thing is that we don’t need to rush our wines because they are little giants that benefit from a little more time in the cellar before we release them to you.  Our 2012’s have definitely come into their own, and one of our 2013’s is now ready for your enjoyment.  Our 95-rated  2013 Frisson Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($60) is a limited production blend of our Diamond Mountain and Rutherford wines.  It is drinking beautifully right now, and if you are a Cab lover, this one is for you.  We made just a few cases, so it won’t be available long.  Watch for our release of our 2013 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon and 2013 Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon in the next few months.
Don’t overlook those 2011’s.  Those in the know recognize that the mountain wines of that vintage are truly outstanding, and somm’s have been begging for them.  We have a very few cases left of our Double Gold rated 2011 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (a blend of Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain) at $60 per 750 ml.

Should Auld Acquaintance be Frisson!
As 2016 draws to a close, ask yourself this… did I have enough Frisson?  If not, there is still time to order for New Year’s (and Christmas if you hurry).  We have a number of magnums and 3 liters available, as well as gift packs.  You can order from our website, www.frissonwines.com, and take advantage of our $25 shipping special.  Or if you need something in a hurry, call Terry at 713-202-1050 and we will do our best to rush it to you.
As the last few days of 2016 draw to a close, let us be among those who wish you the merriest of Christmas, and the happiest New Year.  May you enjoy a most glorious holiday season with family, friends, and perhaps a little Frisson.
Thanks to all of you for your friendship and support.
