We Are Making Progress

Great things are happening in our area

Dear neighbors,

We continue our work in the neighborhood to maintain it and to make enhancements that improve the quality of life for all of us.  It's already a fantastic place to live, but we are working to make it even better!  You may not know, that we are also working outside our neighborhood in the larger community - via the newly formed Lake District Coalition.  Our goal is to improve the Lake Hefner area through working with neighborhoods to improve them, landscaping, sidewalks, bike lanes, better retail markets and in general improve the areas surrounding our neighborhood.  We have great hopes for this new coalition, but I wanted you know of great things that are alreadying happening in our area. Here are just a few:
  • Britton Road bike lanes and sidewalks connecting us to Lake Hefner.
  • Sidewalks on Hefner Road from Rockwell to Blue Stem Park. (if you haven't been to Blue Stem Park lately, they have made major improvements to trails and now have a new Fit Trail.)
  • Revitalizing the shopping center at 122nd and MacArthur with a new CVS pharmacy and Sprouts natural market.
  • A new Senior Center on Rockwell, just north of Hefner.  This will be a very nice facility that includes a coffee bar and cafe, arts and crafts studio, billiard and game room, meeting rooms that open onto a garden, fitness facility, pool, walking tracks, and will have preventative health care services as well as a library and areas for socializing.
We have more work to do.  But, we are making progress.  Let us know if you want to be a part and can help.
