What Should You Take in an Evacuation??

A couple of weeks ago we received an emergency alert from the local TV station that we needed to evacuate due to a possible failure at Oroville Dam. They said the failure could happen very quickly and we needed to get out now!  Because of the high water level of the dam local media had been posting lists of emergency items we should take (see list below). I already had all of those supplies in my car and had moved the family heirlooms up to higher shelves in our house. Because I was prepared I only had to load a couple of things in my car including my dog Ace and was able to leave within a few   minutes.
Some of my neighbors and friends were not as prepared and made fun of me when I mentioned I purchased a bucket toilet.I had even driven and planned my emergency route a few days before. I was able to get to higher ground in a very short time when others were stuck in the griddle lock traffic or at the gas station for hours to get the their evacuation distention. Some people were definitely more prepared then others. One of the houses in town had kayaks, life jackets ,and an ice chest tied to the top of the roof. Now that is being prepared!!  I am happy to say that the evacuation was lifted and we were able to return home. The rainy season is not over yet so we need to "be aware and be prepared".

Some people have such large collections of items and realize they would not be able to move things to safety and have decided to downsize and start selling their items. I would be happy to sell those items for you or I can show you how to sell your treasures on eBay. I have a couple of openings  in the Beginning and Advanced class on Thursday March 2nd. If that time doesn't work for you, I am available for private  consulting. Contact me today at or give me a call 530.693.0386. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
