We are extremely proud of the hard work you all put in to provide a caring and resilient service to support patients. We are here to help you do what you do best, by delivering additional training, attracting new recruits and providing support.

Introducing your local Training Hub
The Coventry and Warwickshire Training Hub exists to support the primary care workforce across Coventry, Rugby, South Warwickshire, and Warwickshire North.
Working together with partners, we provide access to relevant education, training and development opportunities for everyone working in primary care in our patch.
We are commissioned by Health Education England to support six core aims, including providing innovative clinical placements, helping to develop an integrated health and social care workforce and supporting recruitment and retention in primary care.
We are particularly keen to encourage you all to contribute to building future training programmes so that you have access to the training and support you need.
Our workforce is our biggest asset, recruitment and retention of our future primary care workforce must be high priority for us all. Please take 5 minutes to read and cascade to your colleagues.

We are very pleased to be welcoming Nicola Moerdyk, Clinical Lead and Emma Lomas, Physician Associate Ambassador to the Training Hub team.

I am delighted to have been appointed Clinical Lead for the C&W Training Hub. I am an energised, proactive GP with a passion for primary care. I am passionate about the development and retention of doctors and health care professionals. I’m looking forward to supporting recruitment and retention of the primary care workforce within Coventry and Warwickshire, developing and driving forward workstreams, and supporting placement quality and capacity withing the work force. I intend to provide high quality clinical leadership within CWTH and beyond.

My experience is wide-ranging with a background in Paediatrics and over 15 years in general practice as a sessional GP, partner and locum. I am a GP Appraiser and a free-lance medical writer. My clinical interests include Women’s Health.
Away from work, I enjoy keeping up with my two sons and indulging my other passions of gardening, period property renovation and travel.

Emma Lomas - Physician Associate Ambassador

Hello,
I would like to introduce myself as the PA Ambassador for Coventry and Warwickshire. Working with the training hub and individual practices, GP mentors and PAs; I will be supporting the PA role from student placement through to PAs working in general practice (new graduate and experienced PAs) across the region.
Having nearly 12 years experience as a PA in general practice, 4 years lecturing and mentoring at Birmingham University and as GP placement lead and mentor, I am looking forward to working with those at the training hub to continue to promote, support and integrate the role along with my fellow PAs within the multidisciplinary team of Primary Care.

New to Practice Fellowship
Are you a practice looking to recruit a newly qualified GP or Nurse this summer?
Have you considered including the New to Practice Fellowship (NTPF) as part of your offer?

Launched this year in Coventry and Warwickshire, NTPF is a 2-year part-time programme of learning, support and PCN project working for newly qualified GPs/GP Nurses, to aid transition from trainee to independent practitioner, undertaken in addition to clinical commitments.
|
|
|
- Eligible GP/GPN are guaranteed to be accepted to Fellowship Programme
- Upskills staff without any direct commitment by practice
- Paid time for fellows to undertake additional CPD opportunities

New to Practice Programme
Open to all new to practice GPs, Nurses, Clinical Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals.
This is a programme that has been tailored to your needs by a steering group of GPs, GP Nurses, AHPs and Practice Managers from within primary care, and is funded centrally and free of charge.
|
|
|
The sessions delivered jointly by Warwick Medical School and Coventry University have been chosen to provide you with a mix of practical management and professional leadership skills to help you establish yourselves during your first years in General Practice, and to make your early years as fruitful and enjoyable as possible. The speakers are from a range of experts and practitioners, chosen to give you an excellent grounding in each of the subject areas.

Save the Date: Aspiring Leaders Virtual Celebration Event
We would like you to join the Aspiring Leaders Virtual Celebration Event on 22nd September 2021. These fellowships empower local GPs to become our future system leaders, in priority areas for our healthcare system. This is a chance for them to exhibit the important and exciting work that they have been involved in over the last year.

GPN Care Programme - ONLY 25 places!
We are pleased to confirm that we will be delivering the GPN CARE Programme from October 6th across Coventry and Warwickshire in partnership with National Association of Primary Care (NAPC) and specialist coaches ShinyMind.

We are seeking expressions of interest from general practice nurses who want to be part of a new, innovative and ground-breaking national development programme, shaped and delivered locally.

CPD Funding - Year 2
Thank you for all your responses and input into your future training needs. We are working on a timetable of courses and will be in touch again once that is completed for you to be able to book your preferred courses.

If you have already identified a course, please remember that your practice will need to submit an invoice together with evidence of the course booking to claim back your CPD allocation to a maximum of £333.00.
|
|
Mentoring
GPs have an opportunity to view the Mentor Profile Pack and decide which mentor they think would be a good fit for themselves. Taking into consideration each mentor’s capacity, mentees are allocated a mentor by the Clinical Lead, based on preferred choices.
|
|

|
Phoenix GP
Phoenix GP provides fully funded career development and leadership programmes, designed specifically for mid-career GPs.
The programme will run from Sept 2021– Feb 2022, six evening events over six months, via MS Teams. Click here to find out more about the programme
All mid-career GPs in Coventry & Warwickshire are invited to consider this opportunity and apply for a place.
Application is via a short application form, telling us who you are and why you wish to join Phoenix GP. Demand may be high for the programme and all GPs that apply to join may be subject to a panel decision based on application.

The Visible Leaders Network (VLN), is a network for Black, Asian and minority ethnic staff leaders and aspiring leaders and is designed to support your career progression to senior level roles within the NHS.
