Annual China Trip

OCM Chairman, Michel Jullian, recently returned from our annual due-diligence trip to China. In-person meetings are important to maintaining strong relationships with our partners and suppliers overseas - which results in high-quality and on-time delivery for our customers.

Documentation: The Key to Communication

What defines a successful relationship between an OEM (you) and your contract manufacturer (us)? One key thing: COMMUNICATION.

In addition to the face-to-face, phone, and email communication that will occur over the course of your relationship with us, DOCUMENTATION is probably the most important to a successful (on time, on budget) project.

Only through schematics, CAD files, test procedures, special instructions, and other such documentation do we fully understand your product.

To help, we've prepared this DFM Tip on Documentation Best Practices. It's SO important to us, that we're always willing to provide additional guidance and support in this area - please ask your Program Manager.

It's Never Too Early

It's also never too early to start communicating with us. The sooner we know about your project, the sooner we can prepare our processes, supply chain, and secure inventory.

Delivery has as much to do with LEAD TIMES ON COMPONENTS as it does with great documentation - they go hand-in-hand. So please give us as much heads-up as possible, even if you think it's much too early to be talking about manufacturing.

Case Study: Blended Onshore-Offshore Model

Although we deal primarily with low-volume electronics manufacturing, we do take advantage of lower cost labour and components where possible.

This case study outlines some of the key considerations we make when developing an optimal model for each customer...

Yes, we do consumer electronics!

While Consumer Electronics typically fall into the "high volume" category - and therefore outside of our practice - we do manufacture a number of niche consumer products.

Some of the products we've got our hands on (literally!) include:

- Home energy management products
- VGA image sharing and broadcasting products
- Persona safety devices for children and pets
- Interactive white boards
