Documentation: The Key to Communication
What defines a successful relationship between an OEM (you) and your contract manufacturer (us)? One key thing: COMMUNICATION.
In addition to the face-to-face, phone, and email communication that will occur over the course of your relationship with us, DOCUMENTATION is probably the most important to a successful (on time, on budget) project.
Only through schematics, CAD files, test procedures, special instructions, and other such documentation do we fully understand your product.
To help, we've prepared this DFM Tip on Documentation Best Practices
. It's SO important to us, that we're always willing to provide additional guidance and support in this area - please ask your Program Manager.
It's Never Too Early
It's also never too early to start communicating with us. The sooner we know about your project, the sooner we can prepare our processes, supply chain, and secure inventory.
Delivery has as much to do with LEAD TIMES ON COMPONENTS as it does with great documentation - they go hand-in-hand. So please give us as much heads-up as possible, even if you think it's much too early to be talking about manufacturing.
