Stewardship is a Way of Life Workshop
November 13-14

Everyone is invited to attend a special Stewardship Workshop being held on November 13 and 14 at Westworth United Church (1750 Grosvenor Ave., Winnipeg).  

  • Learn to tell your story through narrative budgets
  • Adopt stewardship in worship, learning and serving
  • Complete the circle of stewardship with thanksgiving

Sessions will include: Church Treasurer 101; Year-Round Stewardship; The Narrative Budget; Giving as a Spiritual Practice.

The General Secretary's Supervision Committee
The General Secretary’s Supervision Committee carries out supervision of and accountability for the performance of the General Secretary on behalf of the General Council and its Executive.  This supervisory committee is seeking one member from outside Ontario who will bring expertise in human resource practices or change management.  Read more . . .


Canadian Faith Leaders Call for Climate Justice
Moderator Jordan Cantwell, along with 25 other Canadian faith leaders, has endorsed the statement On Promoting Climate Justice and Ending Poverty in Canada, available on the Canadian Council of Churches’ website. This statement represents a meeting of the minds and hearts of many diverse faith organizations, including the World Buddhist Council, World Sikh Organization of Canada, and a broad range of Christian denominations.  Read more . . .

The United Church is asking you to support the right of the people of Khirbet Susiya, Palestine, to remain on their land. Their entire village faces the threat of demolition.

Intercultural Worship Program

November 20-21, 2015


What does it mean to live out God’s call to be “beloved community”? How do the practices of becoming an intercultural church provide models for what it means to be a vibrant community of faith?


Intercultural worship is one way that we attempt to faithfully live into God’s call for being beloved community. Join us for a life-giving program that will involve worshipping and learning together. Leadership includes Adele Halliday and Alydia Smith (United Church General Council Office), Robin McGauley (Program Director at Five Oaks), and a team of worship leaders including Sarah Grady, Adam Kilner, Sue Howard, SungMin Jung, and Janice Asiimwe.


This onsite program will take place November 20-21 at the Five Oaks Centre in Paris, ON. Cost is $160, or $100 for a youth in grades 9-12 that is accompanied by an adult.

Workshop on Human Trafficking

Let Them Howl 
Let Them Howl is a new reader’s play written by Sharon Bajer and commissioned by the Nellie McClung Foundation with the support of the Winnipeg Foundation.  It will be held at the Prairie Theatre Exchange on October 18, 2015 and performed by women of distinction and active community members.  Read more . . .

The Centennial Gala will take place on January 28, 2016 at Winnipeg’s RBC Convention Centre and the program will include the announcement of the Nellie Awards recipients.

We would like to let you know that there are still spots available for Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training classes, Nov 19-20 and Dec 7-8, at the Independent Living Resource Centre. One in three Canadians will experience a mental health problem in their lifetime. Training is open to caregivers, youth workers, human resource professionals and anyone interested in helping those affected by common mental health problems find the support and services they need. Learn to recognize the risk of suicide/self-harm, give reassurance and information and become active in reducing the stigma associated with mental health disorders.
