One of the most precious gems of the Emerald Coast are Walton County's Coastal Dune Lakes. These dune lakes are unique and ecologically significant- found only in Walton County and areas of Australia and New Zealand. On Tuesday, September 8, the Walton County Commission will hold an adoption hearing on a plan amendment that threatens the health and future of our dune lakes.
The Surfrider Foundation is opposing the proposed amendment and asking the Commission to deny the proposal or postpone the vote until we can ensure the protection of our dune lakes.
ACTION NEEDED: Walton County Commissioners need to hear from you NOW. Tell them the proposed amendment should be denied or the vote postponed until the protection of these lakes can be ensured.
