Dear <<First Name>>,
How can it be December already? These last few months have flown by! We love, love, love our church family and we thank God for the privilege of serving them and sharing Jesus with them. Peter has been preaching in the early chapters of John, Melanie has been busy helping with the Sunday School and a youth girls Bible study, and the oldest four have regularly been involved with music at church. We often have new faces in church, a few new families have started coming regularly and we are seeing people really grow and deepen in their love for Jesus. It has felt like an encouraging season. We will soon be celebrating three years since we started meeting as a church. Thank you for continuing to pray for Trinity Chippenham!
Peter has been teaching with Cor Deo and with Union School of Theology in Wales too. Peter and Mike enjoyed a very encouraging Cor Deo intensive at our sending church in Oregon in October, and then we had another full and encouraging one here in Chippenham a couple of weeks ago. Melanie was able to attend this Intensive which was her first one in four years. With Union, Peter has been teaching the subject of preaching both on campus and via video lectures that he recorded in the summer. Please pray for Peter to be refreshed spiritually so that he is able to teach well in these various settings.
It has been a busy season, but we have also been able to take some time out as a family and as a couple. Melanie and I went away for two nights in October and stayed in a cute little cottage in the Cotswolds with just Jessah to keep us company. Then in November we spent six days on holiday as a family on a farm in Devon. It was great to relax and make memories together – playing games, reading together and celebrating Joel’s 10th birthday. (Many of the memories were made in the swimming pool that Peter and the children enjoyed every day!) We have been in “full-time” ministry for twelve years now and recognise the need for these breaks to keep us in a healthy place physically, emotionally and spiritually. It would be easy to burn out and we really want to keep running the race with endurance.
What is coming up? Today Peter is flying to Hungary for five days where he will be again teaching preaching, this time with a group of ten European preachers he has been mentoring via webinars. He returns on Friday and would value your prayers for him and for the rest of the family at home. In January, he will be speaking in Germany at the OM new recruits conference. And Lord willing, we are looking forward to Mariah getting baptised in the swimming pool at the leisure centre where we meet for church.
For us as a family we have a few weeks before birthday season hits on the 1st of February (four girls in four weeks!), but first we have the joy of anticipating Christ’s birthday - a very special time for everyone. Thank you so much for praying for us and we trust you have a wonderful Christmas season. We could not do what we do without you behind us!
With our love and thanks,
Peter & Melanie
