The summer weeks seem to be slipping by so quickly, but we wanted to send you a ministry update. Melanie recently wrote a family update on our website with lots of family pictures (click here to go there). Meanwhile, on the ministry front:
Poland - Peter had a busy week at the European Leadership Forum at the end of May. This was the fourth time that he and his friend Huw Williams have led the Bible Teachers and Preachers Networks. It was a busy week, but so encouraging to be able to teach and equip church leaders from all over Europe (Romania, Ukraine, Albania, France, Slovenia just to name a few!). One of the highlights was spending time with the Year Round Mentoring group that Peter leads throughout the year (last year they met up in Athens in December)
Ireland - In early July Peter was able to return to OM Ireland to give the Bible teaching for their Impact Ireland orientation (Christians come together from all over the world to participate in a ten-day outreach). This is the fifth time Peter has had this opportunity and again he thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a privilege to be able to invest a little from God’s Word into folks that are then heading out across the island in teams to share the Gospel. If you are looking for a good summer missions experience, be sure to keep OM’s Impact Ireland on your list!
Boston - This weekend Peter is taking a quick trip to Boston, USA. He is preaching in an Arabic-speaking church on Sunday, and then taking a short class (Christ-centred Preaching) at Gordon-Conwell Seminary before returning home at the end of the week. It has been a while since Peter has had the chance to be a student on a course. We realize that in order to help others grow, we need to be growing ourselves! Peter is excited about developing more as a preacher and in improving at teaching others how to preach.
Cor Deo - We have an Intensive course coming up in August locally, as well as another one in November. We also have an Intensive scheduled in Hillsboro, OR, in October. If you would like to know more about any of these please get in touch with Mike (firstname.lastname@example.org) either with questions or to reserve your place! These Intensives will all last four full days, instead of being spread out over five days as previously.
Trinity Chippenham - Saving the most important for last, we have been encouraged so far this year at Trinity Chippenham. There is always a lot to be involved in with preaching, leading, helping with various ministries in the church, investing time with people, etc. Please pray that this new church would continue to get established and that we will see more and more of God’s life transforming power at work in our midst. We would love to see more people reached with the love of God in Chippenham - there are far too many people that don’t know how good God is or how much God loves them!
Personally Speaking - We always tend to mention that we value prayers for us as individuals, as a couple, as parents, etc. We really mean it. This year we have experienced a wide range of emotions and struggles. Sometimes it is hard to maintain motivation in the face of discouragements and our own weaknesses, but we really want to keep pouring ourselves out in response to God’s love. Please pray for us to stay close to Him and to be able to respond to His great love in how we love Him, each other, our children and all the people that God allows us to interact with. Looking forward, we are trying to be more intentional about discipling our children. Please pray we can be effective in connecting with them and fanning God’s love and life into flame in their hearts.
Thanks so much for praying for us, please let us know anything we can be praying for you!
