Dear <<First Name>>,
Amazingly 2016 is almost half over already! Melanie recently wrote a post with an update on family news, including a 40th birthday celebration - click here to see the post. So in this mini-update we want to focus on ministry items:
Trinity Chippenham - We can’t believe that we are approaching two and a half years as a new church. So much has happened! Recently we have been encouraged to see numbers growing and connections deepening within the church family. Everyone in the Mead family loves going to church on Sunday, which is something we really wanted when Trinity began. The older kids continue to serve our church family with their music and in various other ways. Peter is busy with preaching (you can hear the TC sermons here), weekly meetings with the other elders, and meeting up with men in the church as much as possible. Melanie is also involved, helping with the older Kids Club group on Sundays, hosting life groups frequently, and getting together with various women in the church. We love it and we wish we could do more. Please pray for Trinity to be used of God to bring many people into the joy of relationship with Him, and to help believers grow in their relationships with each other and with Christ.
Cor Deo - We are in a time of transition with Cor Deo. Since we have lost colleagues due to visa complications we have had to press pause on the 20-week programme and prioritise shorter courses like the Intensives and Focus Seminars. We are excited about what God has in store for a Cor Deo that is “lighter on its feet” and flexible, but we are also praying for real wisdom as we contemplate downsizing the infrastructure of Cor Deo and trimming as many costs as possible to make it through this time of transition. If you live in the UK, please check out our upcoming one-day, and multiple day events here (insert link). Why not come along to one and bring some friends too!
European Leadership Forum - It is that time of year again and on Friday Peter will be heading off to Poland with Cor Deo colleague Mike, as well as Cor Deo graduates Huw and Mark. Peter and Huw will be leading the Bible Teachers and Preachers Networks at the Forum - a big responsibility and opportunity. Peter’s week will be filled with teaching, as well as video interviews and various other responsibilities. He is very much looking forward to the opportunity to interview John Piper in one of the network sessions (to see previous interviews with John Lennox and Ajith Fernando, just click their names).
Union School of Theology - Recently Peter was over in Wales recording video lectures for Union School of Theology. He also taught some preaching classes on the campus. Next year Peter will be teaching a few intensive days of preaching classes for the 2nd and 3rd year students. Union is an exciting new ministry and we are excited to play a small part in it. Please do check out their online resources.
Writing - Two books are currently with editors and should be out later this year, more info to follow. Please pray for Peter to finish off one overdue project in the next weeks - a devotional guide to 1-3 John.
Relationships - We can write about the formal settings where ministry takes place, but really we believe ministry is all about relationships. We are surely not the only missionaries who feel stretched relationally - there are people everywhere who need love and ultimately, need Jesus! We want to give our best time and energy to each other, to our children, to our church, to our ministry responsibilities, but also to our prayer partners, our sending church, our family, our friends . . . we feel so rich with friends, but also we often feel guilty for not staying as connected as we want to. If only we could press pause and add an extra week into the month just to get in touch with people that are on our minds! Anyway, all that to say please pray for us to prioritise wisely each day, and please forgive us for not being in touch as often as we would like to!
Thanks so much for standing with us. As ever, please do share anything we can be praying about you . . . we love to add prayer requests to our family prayer booklet and pray for friends together after dinner.
With our love,
Peter & Melanie
