Dear <<First Name>>,
Last weekend we all went to the conference of Counties – a wonderful group of full-time evangelists here in the UK. I was asked to speak on partnership – an important subject for them, and for us. Preparation was a real struggle, for some reason, but it worked out in the end. I shared about how partnership is not a peripheral bonus in Christianity, or even just a necessity for those of us in supported ministry roles. Rather it is central to Christianity because the God we follow and represent is a God who works in partnership within the Trinity.
We looked at how Jesus modelled and prepared his followers to work in partnership on numerous levels. It was a challenging time, and a constant reminder to us of how thankful we are for all who are partnering with us in our ministry. We say it regularly, but we want to say it again – please please let us know how we can be praying for you. Partnership is not a one-way concept!
Joel - "I did leave"
Joel is at the cute stage of slight errors in his speech, although he speaks a lot. For instance, he relies heavily on “I did” in any explanations of action. So here’s the last month described Joel style:
"I did leave and go’ed to Germany for a conference organised by Wycliffe. Then I did leave and go’ed to Malta to be on the Logos Hope for a few days. Then I did leave and go’ed to Sri Lanka to teach a class (and I did see <wide eyed description> big big BIG cockroaches, but I did make them leave). Then we did leave for the Counties conference."
Our schedule slows slightly in the next few weeks. Please pray for the two preaching seminars and several meetings with students to go well. Please pray for us to use our time well as we continue to get used to life in Chippenham!
We thank God in every remembrance of you, because of your partnership in the gospel (Philippians 1:3-5).
With our love,
Peter & Melanie and the family
Fun in the autumn sun!
