Call for Work - Near and Far - Print Exchange
“Near and Far” is a themed print exchange engaging artists with the question: How do we sustain ourselves and others emotionally and physically? In the past several months it has become increasingly important to understand our needs and seek to connect and support each other. Artists are asked to submit original prints dealing with this theme. Some connected points of departure may be prints about home, place, touch, distance, race, gender, sexual orientation, health, the body, exercise, meditation, mental health, language, listening, reading, isolation, screen time, gardening, cooking, family, or habits, among many more. We are excited to see what you make and share with us.
“Near and Far” is hosted and presented by Morlan Gallery at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. Works submitted to the print exchange will be displayed in an exhibition running from October 26 - November 30, 2020.
Note: “Near and Far” may take place in either a physical or virtual exhibition format, depending on COVID-19 safety recommendations at the time.
How It Works
After registering, each participating artist sends us an edition of 12 hand-pulled original prints. In return, we send each artist 10 randomly selected original prints by other artists. We retain two prints from every edition we receive. One edition will become part of Transylvania’s permanent collection and exhibited by Morlan Gallery in a show titled “Near and Far” from October 26 - November 30. The second edition will be available to be exhibited as a traveling “Near and Far” exhibition.
