Volunteer to collect food for people in need

The annual FareShare Christmas food drive is happening again and we want you to get involved!

The Food Collection, hosted with Tesco, is our chance to gather long-life store-cupboard essentials, which we will send out to charities and community groups alongside delicious fresh surplus food.

We need thousands of volunteers to help us collect donations from the public over the 3-day collection. Here are the key details:

  • When? Thursday 30 November, Friday 1 December and Saturday 2 December.
  • Where? Tesco stores across the UK.
  • What will you be doing ? In just 3 hours, you could collect enough food donations to make 600 meals!

What's more, Tesco donate a 20% financial top-up based on the food collected, which helps us to reach more people living in food poverty.

Volunteering at the Food Collection is a really simple way to make a huge difference to those going without this Christmas.

Food of the Month
(Trick or) treat yourself to a delicious pumpkin for Halloween.
Not so spooky surplus pumpkins
Halloween time is often synonymous with surplus pumpkins coming into our FareShare warehouses... Possibly tens of thousands of them!

Our friends at The Gleaning Network are getting ready to pick up lots of pumpkins and squashes, of different kinds and sizes, in Kent this very post-Halloween weekend.
A lot of them will arrive in our warehouses and will be redistributed to our charity members and community groups.

If you have bought several squashes to carve out or eat for this special day of the year and don't know what to do with them, why don't you have a look at pumpkin recipes

Our fellow food waste fighters at Hubbub shared some seriously finger-biting recipes to help you make the most out of your spooky pumpkins. So trick or pumpkin treat?
