March 2013 - Rawfully Tempting Newsletter - Issue 16

Happy Spring!!!??? Even though the weather here on the East Coast has been anything but Springy...many of us can feel the shift...and know that eventually Spring will Spring. I've not written for some time as I was preparing for the Living Dynamically Wellness Expo. For those of you that stopped by to say hello...it was great meeting you. For those of you new to Rawfully Tempting, I extend a HUGE "welcome" and hope you are enjoying my site. Don't forget to come on over to Facebook and Like my page

Back in December I clonked myself in the head and suffered a concussion. It has been a slow recuperation. I had no idea the ramifications of shaking up your brain, and it left me unable to do so many of my daily tasks. So I'm glad to be back!

We had a blast at the Expo and RAWbert was so happy to see his old friends. I'm waiting for some new pics to post. PS - If you liked the goodies you tasted at the Expo, you can find them here.

In honor of Spring, I wanted to share this very easy, very delicious recipe...

1 1/2 cups sunflower seeds, soaked 2 hours
1/2 cup almonds, soaked
<3/4 cup water
1 garlic clove, crushed
2 Tablespoons olive oil
3 Tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
3/4 teaspoon sea salt (to taste)
dash black pepper
<1/2 cup red onion, chopped
1/2 cup celery, chopped
4 Tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1 cup chopped apples
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
3 Tablespoons dried cherries, (or cranberries), chopped
1/2 cup seedless grapes (optional)
1 Tablespoon maple syrup (your favorite sweetener) optional
Directions:
1. In food processor, mix nuts and seeds. Add water.
2. Add crushed garlic, oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and process.
3. Transfer to a bowl and add remaining ingredients or pulse chop.
4. Taste for seasoning and adjust as needed.
5. Serve on raw crackers, bread, or lettuce leaves topped with sliced avocado and sunflower seed sprouts.

Option: For variety, eliminate the fruit and change up the spices. Use chipotle powder, cumin, red bell pepper, cayenne, and create a sassy version for your wilder side.

At The Recipe Boutique you'll find spectacular Rawfully Tempting recipes that are sure to please. Not to worry, you can still find hundreds of FREE recipes  posted on our site, however, I've spent substantial time developing some newer recipes and have made them available in an A La Carte fashion. Recipes include beautiful photos, step by step instructions, and a resource list to help you find ingredients.  As always, you're not alone. Have a question about a recipe?

Go to RT's Boutique and submit your question in the Comments section or drop me an email.

Warning:  Be prepared...there may be ingredients listed that you've never previously used. That's the whole point! It's time to expand your culinary palette. You always have a choice to substitute or eliminate ANY ingredient you  either don't have, or don't like.  Realize that your results will vary from what I've shown, and that is PERFECT! However, it's always fun to give something NEW a try!  I use ingredients that I believe add more flavor, or texture...I also encourage you to LET YOUR INNER CHEF SHINE!

Don't Miss RT's Interview on What Matter's Most

This past month, I had the honor of being interviewed by Eric Anzalone. Remember The Village People? (YMCA and Macho Macho Man)? Well, Eric is now the host of talk show, What Matters Most. We had a blast, shooting our video at Brad's Raw Chips and Eric LOVED the Southwestern Feast I prepared for him, including a triple layer "cheesecake."
