Call for support against hate and for love

On Monday, I met with an interfaith gathering of people in the Portland area and with the Executive Director of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon (EMO). We met to respond to the threats of anti-Muslim rallies that are scheduled to occur on October 9 and 10. Medford is one of the towns and cities that was listed as targeted. (On website sources, apparently 20 were listed. There may be others added.)

We developed a press release and statement of support for our Muslim community, to which we signed on. We wanted you to be aware of the pending problem and invite you to sign on personally and your congregation to add its name.

Please review the press release and reply either to:

Jan Elfers - EMO
(janetelfers@me.com)

Kayse Jama - Center for Intercultural Organizing
(kayse@interculturalorganizing.org)

The Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Medford is joining this effort and is aware of the threats.

Many thanks,
Lynne
