DOES CLIMATE CHANGE WORRY YOU ?
As 2018 ends, it’s time to re-assess and re-evaluate our priorities, values, and actions - by looking back - and LOOKING FORWARD ~
Is protecting the environment a priority ?
Does education of youth and the community matter ?
Are we aware of the powerful, destructive forces and changes that climate change is making on the planet?
Climate Change appears to be a global issue, but it really impacts us locally, too.
WE EACH CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE !
As responsible people, we can individually and collectively create a greener and healthier environment in our communities, while educating our children and ourselves about green skills, sustainable practices, and green jobs for a greener economy.
That's what A Living Library is doing, but we need your help and support to do it even better and more powerfully - locally and globally.

A FEW A.L.L. ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2018:
• Transforming Seneca Avenue Streetscape & Islais Creek Watershed, San Francisco:

With the help of a generous grant awarded to Life Frames, Inc. by the California Natural Resources Agency under Proposition 1 — California Urban Rivers Grant Program — we are helping address climate change by expanding the OMI/Excelsior Living Library & Think Park, and transforming a long, wide, barren street - Seneca Avenue - into a series of Rain Gardens, Swales, and Community Gathering Spaces that will radically change this current 'Heat Island' that aggravates flooding problems in the neighborhood.
Stormwater currently drains downhill into overflowing sewers that compound flooding from the Historic Islais Creek under Balboa High School. This portion of Seneca Avenue borders on four public schools - PreK-12 - including Balboa. Students of all ages will help in transforming this desolate area into an ecological place of wonder, delight, health and community / school learning - by planting hundreds of California native trees and understory plants. Concrete removal, excavation, adding good soil and compost, and then planting and mulching by the students and community will begin in early 2019. Read more...

• Transforming Rear Yard Of James Denman Middle School, San Francisco:
A year ago, the Rear Yard of James Denman Middle School, one of the four schools that borders on Seneca Avenue described above, was a barren and depressing expanse of asphalt and concrete that looked more like a prison yard. Not a great place for student learning and enjoyment.
Following Bonnie Ora Sherk's Master Plan with funding from the San Francisco Community Challenge Grant, Denman PTSA, and Excelsior Community Collaborative, this environment has been transformed from a dreary grey stretch of gray to blooming gardens of colors - California Native Learning Zones - filled with California Native Trees and Understory Plants, including a new Redwood Circle Outdoor Classroom for students and community. All the areas were planted and cared for by the students during the school day, after school, and summers. Read More...
