A bit of news from us....

While I was in Thailand last fall, God again impressed upon me the need for people to "go and tell". We also do need to "stay and tell", that being wherever God has placed us at the present time.  But the world also needs people who are going to "go and tell".  This is why I and others go to events like MissionsFest Vancouver
(above, left) and Missions Fest Alberta (below), and to other events at schools etc that have a focus on reaching out with the Gospel across cultures and continents.  Ultimately, I see these events as opportunities to put into someones life, and to be part of what God is doing in and through them.
Vancouver was huge - over 20,000 people come through during the weekend and so we had a team including home service missionaries and Canadian & US SEND office staff serving for the weekend.
I was joined in Edmonton by Bill & Joan Ginther (from Lethbridge).  Bill & Joan been part of a short term team which
ministered to refugees in Macedonia last year with our SEND team there.  That ministry was very impactful, and they built relationships there that have continued on to this day.

While in Vancouver I also had the opportunity to expand my culinary experience.  Friends of Ed (my boss) took us out for Korean food - the first time I ever saw a restaurant table with a bbq as part of its decor.

Ministry Opportunity

Sumy Grace Camp (Sumy, Ukraine) and its extended ministries touch hundreds of children and families each year.

John & Leanne will be leading a team to Ukraine this summer to serve at the Teen Camp.  They need English speakers to come and take part in the program.
50% or more of the campers come from non-church homes and camp is where they experience the Gospel.

Ministry will include participation in and leading various portions of the camp program (using English as the ministry language); communicating with campers as they practice their English; various work projects around the camp

Dates:  June 29 - July 13th
Cost: $ 2500 per person

Please consider joining us in this ministry
Join the team:  we have a couple more spots for individuals to join (maximum team of 8 people).  Contact John for more details.

Join our financial team:  Leanne and I need to raise all of our funds for this ministry trip.  Use this donation form to partner with us.

Opportunities around the world....

Have you thought of taking some time to serve in another culture?  To experience serving God in a different context than what you are used to? SEND has opportunities around the world for you to be involved........

Family Update

Everyone has a story to tell, and as you can see by the picture of Leanne, we have had our days of cold.  Thankfully, all 6 of us have come through the winter ok....
We enjoyed having Lanae & Logan home over Christmas, and Alicia in January during her break from Moody.  Daniel is now officially taller than John (it was inevitable but John didn't want to accept it until it was obvious.....)
The burst of flowers at Walmart during Valentines brought back fond memories of our open markets in Ukraine.  The selection and amount available (and the low prices) there made it easy to share Valentines multiple times a year.
Thank you for standing with us in prayer and financial support.  We know that these are not the easiest times for many, and we are thankful for how God continues to provide through the thick and the thin.  Our ministry at present is not as "front line" as when we are overseas, but a very vital ministry none the less.  I guess it can be put this way - if one is open, God can use you in peoples lives, no matter where you are.  That is our prayer, that God would use us here, just as He has used us there.  Lord willing, some day we will be back "over there", but at the present time this is where we are, and so we seek to serve as we can.

So our prayer for you is just as it is for us, that God would use you where you are for the furthering of the Gospel and for His Glory

Also, as you all well know, ministry doesn't happen in a vacuum.  It does take funds to make things happen.  If you would like to partner with us with our monthly support or a donation towards our ministry expenses (project account), please use this form.  All donations are tax-deductible.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions etc.
