It's the most wonderful time of the year... Boat Show Season!

Well it is Boat Show time again, so those of you in Melbourne between 5th - 9th July should come down to the Melbourne Exhibition & Convention Centre (Jeff's Shed) and visit the Fishing Getaways stand number A7. This year we are exhibiting a number of new products so pop by and have a chat to us about these and the other great experiences on offer for the 2012/13 fishing season. Jay has returned to us after a 5 month trip around the world, so come in and get her back to working hard on your next fishing adventure! During the Boat Show we will also be running a competition to win a Snapper/Whiting fishing charter on Katrina Louise, one of our local operators, to the value of $100 - to enter all you have to do is drop by and say hi!
If Sydney is your home town, then why not stop by the Sydney Boat Show from 2nd - 6th August and check out the Fishing Getaways stand on the Promenade, not only will you have the pleasure of chatting to our team, but we will also have special guests on the stand from the Cook Islands and Samoa.

Melbourne Cup in Fiji

This package is designed not only for the angler but also the non-angler. It is a chance to get away and have a mad Melbourne Cup Day in Fiji with crab races, fancy dress, cup day sweeps and a champagne luncheon. In addition to all of this, we will be running a Melbourne Cup Fishing Tournament over 3 days that anyone could win with any possible fish and you've got yourself a great few days in the beautiful island nation of Fiji! We have a full non-angler program for those wishing to enjoy the many aspects of Fijian life and culture as well. All are sure to be impressed with this annual trip that even the team at Fishing Getaways just can't get enough of! Angling price is $2310 per person including 3 days fishing whilst the nonangler price is $1485pp

Local Fishing Charters

We have booked dates on Katrina Louise for Snapper & Whiting trips during 2012/13 and these always fill up fast. At $100pp for a 6 hour charter including the famous roast beef rolls for lunch and top quality crew these charters are a great deal to get out on the water. These are part of our Fishing Club schedule for the year and always guarantee great company, alot of fun and great fishing. The reserved dates are 18th November 2012, 24th February and 24th March 2013. This year we have a new boat that caters for 4 anglers & targets Snapper in Port Phillip Bay offering the best chance to catch 'Big Red' at only $130pp.

Fishing Getaways Club Champion

Each year we sit down at this time and review the year's events in order to appoint our Fishing Getaways Fishing Club Champion. It is always a tough decision with anglers catching a variety of fishing throughout all of our desinations always varying in size and species.
This year our champion angler goes to Daniel Sefton - a long time club member, who has been a constant angler throughout the year. Daniel is always present for the fateful Boat Show pack up but this year is was a trip to Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania that secured his the award.
Daniel didn't catch the biggest fish of the week, but on day one he did land a nice 20kg fish and day two saw him hand off the first strike of the day to a young lad on the boat who had never caught a Bluefin Tuna in his life. On this trip Daniel also stood in as our tour guide when a bad back took our commander in cheif off the job!
Well done Daniel, from the Fishing Getaways team... A true champion!
