Malaysia Sailfish

Kuala Rompin is located approximately 4 hours drive from Changi International Airport in Singapore and between the months of July and October you are almost guaranteed Sailfish. This area is loaded with them and plenty of other species if you want some 'time out fishing' in between. Trips range from 5 - 7 days and include all accommodation, return transfers over the Malaysian border, all meals and fishing as well as a local guide who will escort your trip. Rompin is the destination in Malaysia that has been talked about for so many years as the mecca for Sailfish. In 2014 Fishing Getaways is giving you the chance to get over there and fish it for yourself!
Share charter available on 26th September - 2nd October 2014 for up to 12 anglers on 3 boats! Contact us for more information

Tiger Fish in Africa

The Lower Zambezi is the portion of the Zambezi River that runs between Lake Kariba and Cahorra Bassa. The river has very healthy fish populations as well large numbers of hippo, elephant and buffalo in the region. At Mvuu Lodge, you will primarily target tiger fish drifting with bait. Once you have caught your live bait, then your guide will fillet it and begin drifting for tiger. Simply lobbing the bait overboard, the current will drift it about 30m away from the boat and you wait for the hit. The bait will usually be picked up by either tiger fish or vundu (enormous lower Zambezi catfish). Tiger fish are known for the hard jaws, fearsome teeth and incredible acrobatic jumps once hooked and the golden rule is ‘strike harder than you think and keep that rod tip down!’

School Holidays Fishing, Mornington

A fantastic day on the water was had by all on 22nd September when we pioneered the first Fishing Getaways Kids Fishing Trip out of Mornington. We had a few kids on board who had never caught fish before as well as some little pro's! Our trip gave the kids not only the chance to catch some fish, but to see a seal and quite a few dolphins who dropped in to visit. A big congratulations to Tori, Nate and Hayden who caught their very first fish and a huge thank you to our operators for the day, Stuart & Sandra who made the trip fun, interesting and safe for all of the kids on board. Our next kids fishing trip will run out of Mornington on Sunday 12th January, 2014 from 1pm - 5pm at a cost of $110 per adult and child. Complete our Booking Form if you would like to be a part of it.
Fishing Holidays that keep the Non-Angler happy too!

Fishing can lead you to some of the most beautiful spots in the world and at Fishing Getaways we understand that for every angler, there are a few non-anglers that would appreciate a holiday too. Here is our pick of the top 6 destinations where you can take a non-fishing partner or a family who will enjoy your fishing trip just as much as you do!
#6 - Flinders Island
A beautiful little island off the west cost of mainland Tasmania, Flinders Island has more to offer than Striped Trumpeter, Tuna and Sharks! Packed with history, this little island is perfect for the non-fishing eco-tourist and there are some great camping spots too. Flinders Island offers some of Australia's most beautiful scenery and the holiday house style accommodation is perfect for a family just as much as a fishing group. Read More...
#5 - Cooktown
Far-north-Queensland is a part of Australia which is still relatively untouched both by fishing and tourism. Cooktown houses some spectacular Barramundi spots as well as a hidden tropical paradise only 3 hours drive north of Cairns. For the non-fishing parties, there is touring, shopping and the laid back vibe of a Queensland beachside town and for the anglers there is a fantastic array of Barramundi and Bluewater species such as Cobia, Spanish Mackerel, GTs and much more. #4 - Fiji
Known as one of Australia's favourite holiday destinations, Fiji is the perfect place to get away from it all and spend some quality fishing time on the water. Whether you are joining a share charter for a day or arranging a charter to fish for half a day and then snorkel for the other half, this is a destination which is packed with plenty to offer the non-angler. The home of massage and all inclusive resorts, Fiji will wow adults and children alike - and will hopefully catch you a few fish while you're at it! Read More...
#3 - Bali
A great, cheap alternative for a beach side holiday with some surprising fishing alternatives. You will be fishing with the local experts while your non-angler takes in the sights, sounds and smells of urban Bali. With plenty of shopping available, the cocktails are cheap and the spa services are plentiful. Bali is a great destination to keep both the angler and non-angler happy. Fish species in Bali include Tuna and Dolphin Fish with the chance of a Sailfish, Wahoo or Marlin to boot! Read More...
#2 - Samoa
Samoa is one of Fishing Getaways' favourite fishing locations and is a destination which is rich in culture, hospitality and fish! A hidden paradise within the South Pacific region, Samoa has so much to offer for both anglers and non-anglers alike. Combining two islands in the average trip you will have the chance to chase big Marlin off the Savaii shores whilst your non-angler tours the island which is still very new to tourism and see some of Samoa in its unpopularised form before heading to Apia for some relaxation and pampering in a resort style atmosphere. #1 - The Cook Islands
Aitutaki has been rated as one of the most beautiful places in the world by travel shows again and again and if you are into Bonefishing, the destination takes on a new form of beauty. The Cook Islands is home to some of the most pristine beaches in the world and the Aitutaki Lagoon also houses some of the worlds largest bonefish. Escape for a day or two to chase these hard fighting monsters while your non-angler enjoys the stunning beauty and relaxation or a day trip to the outer islands and return to a chef-prepared meal to share your day.
