Update for Readers

Issue 1/2015

An update for lovers of contemporary fiction from author Dave Cornford.
Flash Fiction February

The best ideas are crazy ones.

So here goes.  In February, I’m writing a flash fiction piece every day. I’m also going to record a reading of it for the Live-Fiction podcast, which will be updated daily as well.

Each piece will be under 150 words, and will be inspired by three “things” contributed by readers. I’ve got a few already written to get things started, and about half of the three-word prompts already contributed by friends and family. After that, it’s up to you. Let me know your three things by email or a comment on facebook.

The first story is inspired by these three things (thanks Jo): band-aid, coffee, sunshine, while the second one is inspired by caravan, treadmill and BBQ.

Check out the blog or Facebook daily, or subscribe to the podcast and join in the fun!

New Release - January

Believe it or not, the 17th Man has already released his book based on the India Tour - Four Captains and a Funeral.  Ebook AND paperback are OUT NOW!

Australia & India Battle it Out

After the tragic loss of a team mate, can Australia avenge their 0-4 series loss in India in 2013?
Follow the 17th Man as he travels around Australia, chronicling the tour with his quirky and insightful pen.
Both teams lost a great captain - one through injury, one through retirement - and both were blessed with the emergence of a new captain - each one young, brash and leading from the front with prolific and flamboyant run scoring.
All the triumph and controversy is here – the farewells and the follies, the roads and roadblocks, captains and caftans, centuries and “centre thanks”, the sledging and the edging.

Been Reading . . .
Over the Christmas break I've had a chance to catch up on some reading.  I really enjoyed The Rosie Project and The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion. These are stories written in the first person voice of character who is a probably a high-functioning person with Aspergers or autism. The books are funny, engaging and challenging, and highly recommended.

What were your favourite books from your holiday reading? Let me know and we can share the recommendations around.
