We invite you to start off 2022 with a “first day hike” hosted by the Friends of MachSun and the East Haddam Land Trust. First Day Hikes is an annual nationwide initiative to encourage people to get outdoors and to enjoy the scenic wonder of a local park. The initiative is held each New Year’s Day through hundreds of free, guided hikes in all 50 states. For another year, the Friends of MachSun is proud to participate in First Day Hikes.
Join us on Saturday, January 1 at 1 p.m. for a first day hike at Machimoodus State Park. We will gather at the kiosk right next to the parking lot. Light refreshments are planned to be offered.
From there, we will have several experienced trail leaders ready to set off in all directions. No matter what level of activity or terrain you're comfortable with, we have a trail for you! This is the perfect opportunity to explore parts of the park that you may be less familiar with.
This family friendly event is open to the public, leashed dogs included. If you want to give a heads up that you’ll be attending, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “First Day Hikes” or click the “Going” button on the Facebook event.
