Master Jim Kehoe - Warrior Scholar

As a professor (psychology) and now a martial arts master, Jim Kehoe has truly embraced the concept of the Warrior Scholar.

The founder of the Moo Duk Kwan, Kwan Jang Nim (Grandmaster) Hwang Kee, explained as students we must use both body and mind; a martial artist must be both a warrior and a scholar. With his recent promotion to Sa (4th) Dan, Master Kehoe is the perfect example of what Grandmaster Hwang Kee was talking about.

These recent results reflect many (many) years of training by Master Kehoe, and will serve as a great inspiration to the students at the Sydney dojang and across Region 3. The two other Region 3 members who travelled with Master Kehoe to the US last year to participate in the Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa (Master level testing) and also received their results are Masters Mick Gillespie and Matt Heal.

Well done to all our new Masters!

Push-ups ... and lots of them

During Term 3 we'll be developing our upper body strength with hundreds (thousands?) of push-ups. Each week we'll focus on a different exercise to help develop shoulders, arms, back, core and cardio.

To track our progress we'll be recording everyone's 'max reps' at the start of the term, half way through the term and again at the end of the term.

Test 1 - Monday 20 / Wednesday 22 July
Test 2 Monday 17 / Wednesday 19 August
Test 3Monday 14 / Wednesday 16 September

The focus is on personal improvement, not to see who can do the most push-ups.

Max Reps = Maximum number of push-ups without stopping.
Well done to everyone who made it down to the Saturday morning training session and BBQ at Enmore Park. A special 'thanks' to Master Chef John for his work on the sausages.
