Cool Repair & MTS Cryo Stores Newsletter
Welcome to our winter newsletter. As the winter period approaches us and the days and nights become colder, it is very important for our clients to be ready for the colder weather. With this in mind, in this month’s newsletter we will be taking a look at preparing for winter and also what our team’s achievements have been over the past year.
Getting Ready For Winter
As we all start to think about the Christmas festivities, we forget about maintaining our freezers to make sure that they run at their optimum efficiency. Freezer maintenance is just as important in the winter period as in the summer. Freezers need to be maintained by de-icing at regular intervals, Cool Repair recommend that the de-icing of freezers door seals should be part of your standard operating procedure (SOP) for freezer maintenance and should be carried out quarterly along with cleaning the condense filters.
Incorporating these tasks into your SOP’s will ensure that your freezers run at their optimum efficiency and may reduce the amount of freezer breakdowns. Also ensure that the room where the freezer is situated is at an acceptable temperature. It is tempting in this cold period to turn the heating up, but if the room is too hot and there is no air conditioning then the freezer will have to work harder at maintaining its set temperature, which could cause a freezer to fail.
The DAIHAN the latest in low energy freezers
Cool Repair has been busy selling and promoting the new DAIHAN freezer and has sold another two WUFD700 -96 freezers to the Royal Oldham Hospital, two new dual system freezers to the Exeter Bone Bank. A WUFD300 to the Nottingham Bone Bank and The Institute for Cancer Research and GSK have also brought the new DAIHAN freezers this year.

The team has been very busy since last Christmas; Ryan has passed his CPC truck licence, which enables him to drive a 7.5 tonne truck for freezer deliveries and disaster recovery. John Balmforth is currently taking his CPC licence to drive a 14 tonne truck, enabling MTS Cryo Stores to transport more freezers at a time for their disaster recovery service.
John Balmforth, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Arien Lettinga and Amanda Plumb have all successfully passed the ADR course which allows them to transport biological samples in accordance with the dangerous goods regulations.
At the beginning of April Cool Repair Scientific and MTS Cryo Stores passed their ISO9001:2008 audit with flying colours and with no findings or recommendations.
MTS Cryo Stores has upgraded their cold room storage, providing storage for bulk material at +4 degrees.
