Domaine Estrade côtes de Gascogne Blanc 2019
From The Heart Of Armagnac
The Estrade family has been farming grains and grapes since 1962 in Armagnac. Though located in the heart of the region, they don't actually produce Armagnac (a type of brandy). In 2003, brothers Rémy and Eric began estate bottling their own wines as Domaine Estrade. They are in the process of organic conversion, which will be complete in 2022.
The Côtes de Gascogne Blanc is a blend of Colombard and Sauvignon Blanc. It starts off with aromas of pear, lemon curd, and citrus with a hint of salinity. On the palate, pear, citrus, white pepper, and a melon finish. It's medium-bodied and lush, while still dry.
This light and citrusy blend would taste great with a gruyere cheese, a light salad, ceviche, or sushi.
Château Haut-Monplaisir Cahors Cuvee Tradition 2017
Back To Malbec's Roots
Malbec has long been associated with Argentina. You might have not known that it actually originated in South West France, and is the main grape grown in Cahors! It had a huge presence up until Phylloxera (the plant louse that decimated European vines in the late 1800's) ravaged the area. Sadly, the vineyard acreage is at only 15% of where it was pre-Phylloxera. Château Haut-Monplaisirorganically farms
This 100% Malbec starts off with fruity aromas of raspberry, blackberry, and blackcurrant. It's bold and dry, with notes of black fruits, earth, and some chalky tannins to give it texture.
Malbec and rich dishes go hand in hand! Try this with roast pork, grilled steak, mushroom risotto, or Manchego cheese.
