This month we are changing things up a bit by welcoming you to have a hand in curating your November Wine Club!
Your first wine is the Viu Manent "Secreto" Pinot Noir. For your second wine, you will get to choose between Viu Manent "Secreto" Syrah and Viu Manent "Secreto" Malbec! Fun, right?! As usual, you can read more about each wine below, to help make your decision.
This series "Secreto" (from the Latin. Secretus - hidden, not identified) features wines enshrouded in secret. The grapes proportion, balance, endurance and many other facts related to the production, are held in the strictest confidence.
Viña Viu Manent invited the Chilean artist Catalina Abbott to create a unique label for each wine by interpreting the concept of the word "Secreto."
Bodegas Cruzat Petnat
Pét-nat is an abbreviation for “pétillant naturel,” a French term that means “naturally sparkling.” The French call this process “methode ancestral.” This process was developed in the 16th century, making it the oldest way of producing sparkling wine.
Pét-nats are bottled while still undergoing their first round of fermentation, and they are made without any additives or winemaking aids whatsoever. Pet-Nat wines are often transferred directly from tank to bottle, unfiltered and not disgorged (meaning the dead yeast cells are allowed to rest at the bottom of the bottle).
Before you drink it, chill the bottle overnight in the fridge or upright in an ice bucket for at least 30 minutes. The cold will keep the sediment at the bottom of the bottle.
The Bodegas Cruzat is 100% Chardonnay, an extremely limited release, and a wonderful aperitif. So pour yourself a glass while you're cooking dinner, unwinding, or simply thirsty.
Exclusive club member pricing is $19.80/bottle for the month (shelf pricing will be $22.25).
All club members are welcome to purchase extra bottles of current clubs, for 10% off (when available).
If you would like to utilize our contactless pick-up option for your club at Metro, please call us at 907-569-3800 [ext. 1]. To use this option, the name on the ID must match the name of the person on the club list.
Viu Manent 'Secreto' Pinot Noir
Charming, to say the least.
After nearly 100 years, Viña Viu Manent is still family owned and operated (a rarity in Chile, especially for a winery of this size).
All farming is certified sustainable, and they base their corporate objectives on Sustainability, Quality, Food Safety, and the Environment. They use those objectives as pillars in their philosophy to ensure their commitment to their community, customers, collaborators, and the sustainable development of Chile.
The Viu Manent Pinot Noir, is ruby red in color, with intense aromas of fresh fruit complemented by spices, and herbal notes. The palate is bright with smooth tannins, and just the right amount of acidity. The finish is nicely balanced with good structure.
Pair with cranberry sauce, stuffed mushrooms, and roasted turkey breast.
Viu Manent 'Secreto' syrah
It's what's for dinner.
The Viu Manent "Secreto" Syrah has a lovely and intense purple-red color with rich aromas of blue and black fruits, along with hints of violets and spice. It has a medium-body with a fresh palate that is balanced, and complex with a nice finish.
Pair with pork tenderloin, green bean casserole, and turkey legs.
Viu Manent 'Secreto' malbec
Garlic mashed potatoes have a new best friend.
Viu Manent was the first Chilean winery to bottle, label, and market Malbec. For years, they've been Chile’s Malbec leaders both in terms of accolades and quantity produced.
The Viu Manent Secreto Malbec is a beautiful violet color. The nose is very complex, fresh, and expressive with notes of cherry, blackberry, and plum. The vibrant palate has tremendous volume, with a firm structure of silky tannins. This wine is very flavorful and well-balanced, with a long and lingering finish.
Pair with garlic mashed potatoes, glazed ham, and chocolate.
