Ochoa Calendas Garnacha Rosado
The Lighter Side of Grenache
Grenache grows widely throughout Europe and goes by many names, including Garnacha in Spain. It makes a lively, fruit-forward rosé.
Coming from Navarra, the Ochoa Calendas Garnacha Rosado is a typical Garnacha rosé (with a bit of Tempranillo) from that region of Spain. It's known for its fuchsia hue coming from the saignée method and bold flavor. Candied strawberry, cinnamon, and cherry aromas are followed by lingering notes of red fruits, spice, and green pepper.
This will be great for appetizers, such as charcuterie with Havarti and prosciutto. For Thanksgiving dinner, it is rich enough to accentuate the turkey, and has enough acidity to cut through the richness of the meal!
Chateau unang ventoux rouge
Turkey Day's Best Friend
The Southern Rhône is famous for its Grenache. You'll see it blended into wines such as Côtes du Rhône or Chateauneuf-du-Pape! In this region it tends to have notes of strawberry, earth, and herbs. You may recognize the winery Chateau Unang from our First Dibs bottle back in August! Their Ventoux Rouge is a Grenache-dominant blend with a bit of Syrah.
There are aromas of bell pepper, raspberry, mushroom, orange, herbs, and jam. On the palate, notes of cranberry, black pepper, and earth accentuate the round body and medium acidity.
This wine is perfect for turkey, but with enough richness and acidity to balance creamy sauces and bolder side dishes.
