Planning documentation
The planning application - along with the Environmental Impact Assessment Report and supporting documentation - was submitted to The Highland Council on 11 February 2020. This was uploaded to The Highland Council’s e-planning website and public comment was invited up until 15 March 2020. There are links to all the documents and comments on our website at
A hard copy of the documentation submitted to The Highland Council was made available at the Kyle Centre, Tongue and Talmine Post Office for people to view. USB sticks were provided to individuals as requested.

Other work ongoing
While the planning documentation is being considered, parallel work has continued in a number of areas including:
  • A review of the programme is being undertaken.
  • Ground investigations that had originally been planned for February 2020 have been rescheduled until a decision has been made on the planning application. As before, these works will be carefully timed to take account of any environmental factors.
  • Preparatory work continues on the marine licensing.
  • The airspace change proposal has passed the ‘Define Gateway’ phase and Step 2a (Develop and Assess) has commenced. During this phase options will be developed that can address the statement of need and align to the defined design principles.
  • A programme of STEM activities with a space related theme is currently being developed.

Community events
We have continued to hold informal drop-in sessions at the Kyle Centre, Tongue on a fortnightly basis (Wednesday from 10am to 1pm) where a member of the project team is available. We were hoping to be at Kyle Centre on 18 March but have cancelled this due to the ongoing advice around the coronavirus.

We will review our plans for further community engagement dependent on the outcome of the planning application. We’d like to thank the staff at Kyle Centre for making as so welcome, for those interested who came along to discuss the project and to the Ladies Knit and Natter group who were kind enough to share their freshly baked cakes with us.
