CCHS Newsletter 37 - 8th November 2021
Weekly Message from Mr Harding, Executive Head Teacher
First week back - tick!  As the clocks went back this week, this half term can sometimes feel a bit of a slog but you'd never believe that from the excellent stuff that has been going on across the school !  There have been so many vibrant, engaging and exciting lessons going on it's been a pleasure to see. We've also been looking ahead to the coming terms and have been discussing the extra "extra curricula" offer we can look to give our students in the not too distant future.  Some of our best memories are from school trips, speakers or clubs and societies and now that we can hopefully plan with a bit more confidence we're keen to start making as many positive memories for our students as possible.
I'll be updating parents in the coming months.

Autumn Term 2 - Altruism Cup
Last year Discovery house raised £1,719.65 for Compton Care, a local charity so very close to many of our hearts.  This year we would like to exceed this.

After the huge success of the Virtual Advent Calendar last year, and in particular Dylan and his peers' wonderful rendition of 'Amarillo'; this year Compton Care aim to fund 20 visits by a Community Nurse Specialist to patients in their own homes at Christmas; each costing £205.

Compton Care's Community Nurse Specialists visit patients during the day, offering practical and emotional support to them and their loved ones.  They are trained prescribers who can issue medication, offer advice around symptom management and support with psychological, financial and social concerns.  Being able to receive support at home from a highly trained expert makes a huge difference to their patients and their families during the festive season.

We would love you to help us to continue providing this support to Compton Care.  Together we aim to raise a minimum donation to Compton Care of £205, in return for having a door on our Virtual Advent Calendar to help many families in need during the festive season.  Please get on board and help us make a difference in our local Community.  Thank you.

6th Form Outdoor Adventures
On Thursday last week, some of our 6th form students took part in a high ropes course at Sky Reach in Telford.  The course went really well and the students really loved it, pushing their comfort zones.
Their next adventure is canoeing on the River Severn at Ironbridge this Thursday, 11 November.

Have your circumstances changed recently?
Parents claiming some benefits can claim free school meals for any of their children who are registered at a Staffordshire school and who would normally be at school at lunch time. School meals are a good way to ensure that your child eats well at lunchtime and you can save yourself time and money.

Even if you don't want your children to have the meals, claiming them helps their school. The more eligible parents who claim meals, the more funding the school receives.
